We spent 2 nights at the Gasthaus and Pension Bauernhausl Mirko Taubrich while visiting Potzcha and the Saxony Switzerland. The guesthouse was very centrally located and easily accessed by steamer ship or train if you do not have a car. The front of the guesthouse overlooks the Elbe river and has a lovely terrace where we ate a delicious meal of 'pfferlinge' (chanterelle mushrooms). The rooms were very clean and modern with brand new bathrooms and very good beds. The breakfast was excellent and overall the guesthouse is very good value. However we found some of the staff a bit grumpy and not particularly welcoming or helpful. The big issue for us was the proximity to the railway tracks - we had rooms facing the train tracks and trains run by every half hour. The noise was initially overwhelming but by the second night we had got used to it (a bit). Still, I found that I did not sleep well because of the train, which was a shame, given the otherwise lovely location. This, combined with the staff who were a generally unfriendly and unwelcoming, means that we probably won't stay here again. I would suggest the other side of the river to get away from the train noise!

This restaurant is extremely well situated on a terrace overlooking the River Elbe and ferry moving to and from Struppen. The beer was excellent, the service efficient, and the food very good. A wonderful way to unwind after the strenuous business of walking up to Bastei Rock Bridge and the Amselfalls village.

Had dinner at the restaurant twice during our stay in Bad Schandau. The views towards the river Elbe are beautiful and watching the ships go by was very relaxing. The service was very good, attentive but not intrusive.The quality of the food was amazing, we were there during the " "Spargelzeit" (asparagus season) and enjoyed the freshly prepared food very much.It is a bit more pricey than some other places in town, but for a special treat it is well worth it.

We ate three very different evening meals at this restaurant as part of a package with the hotel. Each meal was excellent in different ways. The ingredients were fresh and seasonal. There were interesting touches and creativity for the meals while retaining the traditional German standards. The views from the restaurant are truly amazing! It is worth eating here just for the views! After your meal, you can stroll down to the Bastei Bridge and have it all to yourself.Thank you for your stay in our house and the subsequent assessment. We stopped off here for lunch.Decent food,friendly staff and about the most breathtaking views in a winter landscape you will see in the area.Be aware that the car parks are some distance from the Hotel but well worth the walk if you can manage. That aside there is a horse drawn taxi service available.

Während unseres Aufenthalts in der Pension Bomätscher waren wir auch dreimal im Restaurant zum Abendessen. Es hat uns immer gut geschmeckt, sowohl Eltern als auch Kinder waren sehr zufrieden. Die Portionen sind reichlich.

My wife and I had dinner there. I had the Bohemian Schweize mushroom (pfefferlinge) with cream with knödel (dumpling). Mine was very tasty and filling. She had the trout with butter and lemon which she said was delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive as they could be, as it was busy. Happily recommend. Only criticism is that she thought that the side salad dressing was a bit of a let down. I thought it was fine.

Wer einen vergnüglichen Abend in der Festung verbringen möchte kann ein historisches Mahl buchen. Man reist in den Barock um die Hochzeit des Sohnes von August dem Starken. Es wird üppig aufgetischt: Salate, Brot mit passenden Aufstrichen und gefüllte Croissants, Suppe, drei Sorten Fleisch mit Gemüse und Kartoffelstampf und zum Nachtisch Creme brulee. Begleitet wird das Essen vom Hofmarschall und dem Premierminister, mit Musik, Anekdoten und SpäÃen. Unter Einbeziehung der Gäste wird dann das 30-tägige Fest nachgespielt - dabei kommen auch die Kinder auf ihre Kosten. Den Abschluss des Programms bildet eine Feuershow. Ein lustiges, gemischtes Programm bei dem für jeden was dabei ist!
