It was a sad day for Cambodia when the Riverside Balcony closed its doors at the end of October. It has been the outstanding venue in Battambang - and, I would have said, in the entire country - for the past two years.I hope we might see someone step forward to relaunch it one day - but, sadly, there's no sign of that being likely at the moment.Many thanks to Frankie and Frazer (and Sam the Pizza Man downstairs) for giving us two really great years there. At least Sam is staying in town, so hopefully he and his tasty food will resurface somewhere else before too long.The Balcony has recently reopened since 25th of june 2018. We will be happy to meet you in our renovated bar. You can have a cocktail or grab a beer, have some snack if you are a bit hungry, play pool on a new pool table, and even dance on the wood flloor til late, especially on friday and saturday night. This place is in a lovely old French colonial building in a beautiful setting. It isn't airconditioned (is anything in Battambang?) but cooled down ok with the fan, which we had requested due to the heat and mosquitoes. We ordered spring rolls, the chicken breast with bacon and mashed potatoes, the beef salad and Khmer beef curry. That and a couple of cocktails brought the tab to $36. The food was good but it wasn't presented that attractively, which was a disappointment and the reason for the 4-star rating. We normally take pictures of our food, especially at finer restaurants, but nothing we ordered was really laid out as nicely as it should have been. In any case, everything tasted fine and it was a good meal. Staff was friendly and the foreign manager stopped by our table for a couple of minutes to chat with us. Might return here next time we're in town, but it probably wouldn't be my top pick. It's a little out of the way, so you'll need a tuk-tuk to get here.

Nice rooftop bar if you are a backpacker wanting to meet other travellers. Food is okay and drinks the same. The staff is friendly. The hostel on the other hand is really nice. The rooms are relatively spacious and the sanitary equipement is clean and well equipped. Each room has is a/c.

We decided to return to Cambodia for a short break and we also decided to return to This tiny but very good restaurant, again we started with the cheese plate ( this must be the best in Cambodia) Lesley then had a mango salad and I had the the fish Khmer Curry, I know this is a repeat of our earlier visit but the food was yet again first class, we will be passing through Battambang in 2 days time on our way back home in Thailand and we will visit the restaurant again only this time we are going to try something completely different. Great service and a great smile from the staff and owners it is one great little restaurant.Thanks you for your visiting again, I'm so happy to see you guys coming back again and sorry for some a little mistake on your return but we will do better service for on your another return.thanks you very much

Afterwards we should have stayed over for many extra nights. What a great place to stay. The houses were nicely designed and well equipped. Big rooms and bathrooms. The swimming pool is a delight in the middle of a beautiful garden. Dinner is great; you definitely donât have to visit town for that. Very nice and friendly staff and owners. I guess they understand what tourists are looking for. On fixed hours they even transferred their guests to the center and visa versa on request. Credit card are accepted.

Went to Woodhouse Restaurant the evening of July 3, 2019 with John and Sopheap to try out their culinary skills.The resto had a bustling business, 19 patrons squeezed into its modestly sized dining area.Checked out the menu: John chose a burger and fries with a coke, Sopheap opted for beef soup with rice and a soft drink and I ordered the pasta Bolognese with a mango smoothie.The service was speedy and the waiter attentive, though communicating our precise orders was slightly awkward. The owner, a Frenchman, spoke limited English and his waiter was apparently new so wasnât familiar with the menu. After a few fumbled attempts in both English and Khmer I figured they got my pasta Bolognese order.Not so. When the food was served they presented me with Pasta Pesto instead of bolognese! Surprise, surprise. Pasta Pesto is probably my favorite Italian dish; havenât had it in over thirty years due to living in countries where Italian cuisine is limited.Looked great! Though when sampled it was dry and bland, it required extra oomph, more spices. And Woodhouse had no spices besides black pepper and salt. So the Pasta Pesto was a taste test flop.Am puzzled how they got Bolognese confused with pesto: Bolognese uses tomato paste and pesto uses basil; one is red and the other is green.Hello.We are really sorry we obviously did not provide you with the quality time you were expecting. I can promise that these mistakes and confusion are very rare. Unfortunately it happened to you. I can promise you we will make up to you and your friends if you join us again. We would be very happy to offer you your drinks and pay extra attention to your order this time !

We had a pizza and some spaghetti. The pizza was quite nice but cost as much (or more than it would cost me in Canada). $8 US for a small thin crust pizza?? I can go to Dominoes in Canada and get a DELICIOUS pizza for around the same price. The spaghetti was okay but not much of a tomato sauce on it. They wanted $1.75 US for a soda pop??? That's as expensive as Canada and we get free refills in many restaurants in Canada. The draft beer was 1 USD so that stood out as somewhat cheap but it's just a small mug. I don't think you're getting good value for your money here at all. You'd be better off with the local Cambodian food which is delicious and a fraction of the cost. If you REALLY need a pizza or nice ambience then go here and pay extra for it. The quality is okay.Im sorry but your are not right here.. in cambodia everything is imported and if so the price is more and i only use the best ingredients and unfortunately most is imported and everyone knows here western food cost more and just to point out i am cheaper for what i offer and big plates of food and good quality fresh ingredients.. im sorry and about the soda same thing unfortunately i pay alot for it so there for its more expensive as a coke would be.. just the way cambodia is.. as u say if you on a tight budget you are better of eating local food wich is great to but not to compare in quality and the service and comfort my restaurant gives... thanks for your review anyways

We enjoyed a very good lunch here at reasonable prices for Cambodia in this upstairs café. The gazpacho soup ($2) was delicious. Our daughter loved a special order of scrambled eggs with a toasted baguette ($2). The stir fried mushrooms with clam sauce and steamed rice ($3) was also very good. Coffee was $1 a cup. Cordial waitress spoke enough English to take our order. The atmosphere was inviting. A gift shop downstairs was a little pricey. Nice location on a quiet side street. We plan to return.

All their pizza and bread are gluten free as they use cassava flour. Pizzaâs are delicious - tastes just like a sourdough base. Iâm not gluten intolerant so can usually taste the difference, but the food here was amazing. They also do a creme brûlée which looked amazing!
