Lente

Off peak Roosendaal can seem very quiet, almost ghost town like. And then you are surprised by all of the energy emanating from Cafe Lente and you simply can't walk by upon first encountering it. It seems that everyone in Roosendaal wants to be here. The delicious food was as expected. Why else would all of these people want to be there? The staff were friendly, efficient and welcoming. The decor was a bit Modern Chic mixed in with Mother Earth. The two lunches that I had here were delicious and well priced. Although I never tried it out myself, whenever I passed by at high tea time the cafe was bursting at the seams so that too appears to be worth a try.

No Worries

No Worries Antwerpen is a relaxed place for coffee, drinks and food, close to the MAS-museum in "'t Eilandje" area. No Worries is situated in one of the few remaining grain storage buildings (1880) in the "Old docks". It is a perfect place to take a break

Had absolutely no options for vegans (no hummus or avocado, no quinoa, bulgur, chickpeas or nuts) except for fruit and salad. Will not go back Hi Cosmoofgreatpleasure,a bit surprised by this comment. Why walk in a place when you can clearly see what's on the menu and what the possibilities are and that we clearly have none of the above mentioned, nowhere. Our only option for vegans = fruit & salad. So when our options are explained to you and they don't satisfy your needs, you can always move on, no harm done. Why would you then stay? To complain afterwards? Especially since our next door neighbours have a Libanese restaurant where you can find all that you mentioned. It's a bit like walking into a steakhouse to complain afterwards that there was no choice of fish. Anyway, hope you still had a pleasant day afterwardsKind regardsAnn & Koen

We decided to have dinner here before hitting the airport. It was a good decision. Service was pleasant and efficient. Great atmosphere. The food was happy mix. Local interpretation of dishes but well presented and good to eat once you except the quirky add ons. Classic Belgian dishes on menu as well. We will be back to try them out.

I visited recently with my wife for dinner. There is basically a choice between two menu's - the Jeune Restaurateurs d'Europe (4-9 courses) or the crustacean (3-7 courses).Pro's: The food is very good, our lobster main dish was particularly succulent. The langoustine dish was really nice too. There's a good choice of reasonably priced wines including wines by the glass at 5 or 6 euro.Waitresses were very pleasant.Tables are well spacedCon'sIt took an age between courses. We arrived just before 8pm and after two starters plus a couple of nibbles didn't get our main course until after 10:15, it was around a 45 minutes between the second starter and main course and my wife was getting impatient enough to think about paying and leaving, thankfully the lobster dish arrived and rescued the situation... There seemed to be only two chefs in the kitchen, and maybe if you have more courses they arrive quicker but there were certainly times when I looked around the room and no-one was eating at any of the ten tables. There was no choice of dessert. I'm not keen on apricots and as it was described as apricot based (though there were only two small pieces of apricot in reality) I had to go for cheese. Conclusion: Would we return? Probably, if only for the lobster dish. I would suggest to take at least 4 courses as they are small - we took the crustacean menu as four courses and I ate more bread than I would normally but still didn't leave too full. I would qualify that by saying that they didn't skimp on the amount lobster and of course both that and langoustine are expensive ingredients. You can take dishes as a la carte so maybe you get bigger portions if you do.

Stayed at the hotel where restaurant is cited. Varied and sophisticated menu and the food was very well presented. Service friendly and helpful.Ordered the minute steak, that although a little lacking in flavour was otherwise well prepared. Asian vegetables excellent. Fries were tasty. Soup (pea) was disappointing: a bit watery and somewhat under seasoned. Did not order a desert.Would not take too much to lift this a notch! If I was not staying in the hotel would not go considerably out of my way to dine. Probably a 3.5, however I very much liked the people.

Het gebaar (the gesture) serve wonderfull dishes. We especially enjoyed the starter and the main course. The desert are more a work of art. We food they were a bit to sweat but you will surely enjoy it... The starter tuna and mushrooms just were out of this world and tasted like the beach (tuna) and the fall (mushrooms). This was explosive!!

Oesterij

Tasting house for oysters, mussels and lobster. Next to this we also have a delicous fruit de mer with a variaty of shellfish.

Reviewed By Trainbleu

While I was planning a weekend in the Dutch province of Zeeland to celebrate a friend’s anniversary a Dutch friend suggested a visit to the Oesterij as a special treat. It turned out to be a success. The Oesterij was easy to find on Havendijk, we didn’t even have to enter the village of Yerseke and found a parking spot nearby. When we arrived around 4 p.m. the place was still busy, but we didn’t have to wait long for a table of four. The Oesterij is an informal kind of place, with people sitting on wooden benches in a veranda-type room overlooking the oyster pits. The atmosphere is cheerful and the staff is helpful and pleasant. We tried two different types of oysters, cooked mussels and lobster soup with a very nice bottle of French Picpoul de Pinet. The shellfish was super fresh and delicious. Fortunately, the Oesterij doesn’t serve smelly chips, but just rye bread with butter. Prices were very reasonable. We can definitely recommend this place! There are two Tripadvisor entries for ‘Oesterij’, one under ‘Specialty Food Market’ (394 Reviews) and one under ‘Shopping, Sights & Landmarks’ (39 reviews). The initial idea, which makes good sense, was probably to separate the eating of shellfish in the restaurant from a visit to the on-site shop selling seafood, kitchen and cooking utensils and other items or to the historic oyster pits and the sheds explaining about shellfish farming. However, reviewers did not heed this distinction.

First off, the service was abyssmal...never have I experienced such terrible service at a restaurant of such supposed caliber. Mistakes, delays, arguing, negligence and general disregard were the theme.Example 1: Most 3 star restaurants show you(guide/escort) you to the toilets when needed. Not here, they sort of pointed me in the general direction. Not being from NL, I did not quite understand and ended up in the ladies toilet! Server assistants got my requests wrong; dirty plates were left far too long; ingredients missing from a dish and when I mentioned it, I was argued with and basically brushed off...zero concern.Lots of little things were huge misses: the server did not even bother to discuss the wine pairing option with me...rather he just dropped an encyclopedia of wines on me. That was disturbing in of itself...there should be a proper sommelier to speak to the wines!!! During the meal, some times I got a decent description of what was being served, other times a very basic comment.Ultimately, I chose to leave...less than mid way. The food I did have was just ok. The wine pairing was juvenile and thoughtless.Take this tip: go to The Bishop in Leiden or Senses in Ams and you will have a far better experience and food!!!

Biestro H-eat

We are a small gastronomic "Biestro", with a sharp eye on real, tasty and quality products. A place to feel yourself at home.

Four of us had lunch at H-eat and loved every single one of our dishes! Four starters, main courses and desserts — everything was impeccable. While the dishes reflect an unpretentious bistro style, the quality of the ingredients and of the cooking elevates them to a superior eating experience. Interesting wine selection, and excellent wine service all throughout our meal. All of the waiting staff was as cordial as they were professional. From the open kitchen, the chef takes the time to greet guests as they arrive and leave the restaurant, which is a nice touch. Our visit was absolutely perfect, from beginning to end. With only 30 seats, make sure to reserve well ahead of time — definitely worth it!
