We had never been to this restaurant even when we live in this village. After our visit, I surely don't understand why. We were the only guests (it was a wednesday), but that didn't disturb us and it was still cosy. The staff was really friendly and the meals were served on time (perhaps it could have been a little more faster). The waitress asked several times if we enjoyed the meal and checked if we wanted more drinks. The food was delicious. You can choose a menu for 30,- euros or you can choose other dishes. I chose the vegeterian menu (a goatcheese salad (entrée) and a vegetable burger for the main course). It tasted really nice! Because I was stuffed I chose an Italian Coffee as dessert, instead of a nice bowl of ice cream or a chocolate mousse. Nobody of our party had a complaint and everything we ate tasted very good!

Nice place to order a sandwich (baguette) for lunch. Good choice and decent prices. Within Baarle I consider this to be the best place for ordering takeaway lunch. Some seating is also provided inside (but I've only used the takeaway option so far).

We opted for two hours which was more than enough, and was for BOTH food AND drinks, soft or alcoholic. Loads of choice from chinese, thai, european already pre-prepared, plus an option to have your choice of fish or steak etc cooked to your liking in front of you. Great dessert choice too!

Visited this charming little place together with my son to have lunch. The good:-Food: we ordered a burger and a pate sandwich. Both were excellent.-Interior: very cosy decorated. You instantly get that living room feeling-Service: good and to the pointThe bad: slightly expensive. Hamburger was around 10, sandwich around 9. These are prices you pay at upscale places and although price/quality wise it is OK it still might shy people away.-Interior: as said earlier; cosy but no sound isolation. Tables are atleast 1 meter apart but I still had no problems at all listening in to my nabours conversations. The ugly: parking can be a problem in Baarle but that is true for any place here.

If you like pancakes, then you can find some very unusual ones on the menu here, but unfortunately like other reviewers have expressed, it is nothing special compared to other Dutch pancake restaurants. Some of the special flavour combinations can also be a bit ‘too much’. Pick one of the more ‘traditional’ Dutch choices and you should be alright. As this is a touristic location, the restaurant can get quite busy (especially in the weekend) and therefore the waiting time for your meal can be quite long (as we experienced). In general, a pretty average experience but we probably wouldn’t return again.

This restaurant looks quite inviting from the outside and has a very clean terrace area at the front (next to the road). The inside is also very clean, nicely decorated and has a warm and comfortable (brown café style) atmosphere to it. Free parking is available along the roadside next to the restaurant. The menu has a reasonable choice of starters, main courses and desserts on it, but can be slightly confusing to understand what is included in the ‘set-menus’ and what can be ordered separately, or a combination of both. The prices are also quite reasonable and are slightly cheaper than in other restaurants of this standard. Our food was served very quickly and the personnel were friendly. The taste was generally very good (for the price), but we did have some remarks such as the ‘Asparagus Salad’ starter had almost no asparagus in it and we missed having some vegetables with the main courses. The quantity of ‘french-fries’ however was far too much for anyone to eat (which was clear to see, as most other guests around us also left piles of them on their plates). Perhaps a few more vegetables and less french-fries would be a ‘tip’ for the kitchen staff. I can however recommend the ‘ham’ (‘beenhammetje’) as a main course, which was very tasty and plentiful. In general, the taste and quality of the food here is good and it is definitely a pleasant place to visit if you are in the area.

We went there for a lunch on Saturday afternoon. Pros:- The interior is really nice and interesting atmosphere,- Food was very fresh and prepared just before serving, - excellent location in the centre of the town.Cons:- there was no dedicated person for the table, so we were greeted by one person, seated by another, food was served by somebody else and ultimately there was no-one to give us a bill (had to go to the bar to ask for one),- the menus on the table were in Dutch and I had to go to the bar for the English version,

It was our first stay in Baarle Hertog. The Lantaern is a real must to visit. On a Warn summer night like we had the terras at the back is very nice. You have to find the restaurant. It's just outside the center. Entrance looks more like a bar. You can taste beer and whisky's also. The Dutch owners were very hospital.
