Our favorite diner. Breakfast is best - they have all day breakfast and specials. The corned beef hash is a favorite side. Dinner is also very good - soup, salad, entree and dessert. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will keep on returning.

For me a diner is all about 24-hour breakfast, fast, personable service, fresh ingredients done to order, ample portions and comfortable, clean surroundings. The Park Avenue Diner delivers. Been there a dozen times over the years. Always return when visiting Plainfield/Edison.

You know a diner is going to be good when you see police cars in the parking lot. Took my son there for very early breakfast after picking him up at metropark. It’s a family diner and it shows. Very homey, not all slick with mirrors. My son had his first Benedict and the glory of hollandaise sauce was noted. I had SOS aka chipped beef on toast. Both were very good as was the coffee. Will definitely be back.

Sherban's Diner

Went for dinner on a Friday night. Not from the immediate area, so we were going in blindly...PROS: Staff was friendly. French fries and chocolate chip pancakes were the best I've ever had. Carrot cake and chocolate layer cake were thickly sliced and also delicious. Server (and a manager) checked on us various times to make sure everything was ok.CONS: Restaurant is outdated and in need of a major interior facelift. Should at least get some new highchairs (one we used must have been 30 years old and was rusting). Server has difficulty understanding what we wanted (we had to point to the items on the menu). Tuna melt was subpar (tomatoes were flavorless and looked wilted, tuna salad wasn't the best, cheese looked like Kraft singles). Restaurant was dead on a Friday night minus a group of about 20 who came in for a repass.Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. I'd go back if just for the menu items that I really liked...but the outdated decor is kind of off-putting. Better diner experiences out there.
