The atmosphere is rustic, the rooms are decorated in traditional style, with lots of handcrafts and pottery. The general appearance was it is above average for a Gasthaus. The Gemülichkeit was splendid on the night we visited: singing in one room, an accordion player in another and general good cheer with friendly folks on the neighboring tables. The prices were quite a contrast to those in the city â generally less than 75% of those in similar city restaurants. My three Franconian table-mates deemed the food quality outstanding for Gasthaus fare. Each ordered a different regional specialty and raved about the portion size, meat quality and value. I had the cordon blue and found it a bit greasy, short on cheese and ham, and the crust was a bit soggy â but it tasted OK. Service was prompt and quite friendly, especially considering that there was not a free table in the house and people were waiting to be seated. The restaurant has its own beer, which is quite good. They also serve many different types of fruit schnapps, that my companions found quite good. So, despite lack of enthusiasm, for my main dish, the restaurant is no less than very good. Its a wonderful brewery on the beer trail with a beautiful beer garden. It was the last stop on that trail so had a nice pause there. Friends recommend the weissenbier there.

Leider hat dieser Gasthof nur einmal die Woche (Mittwoch) e i n warmes Essen, aber die Brotzeiten sind durch den Hausmacher Senf ebenfalls ein Genuss. Besonders gut ist am Wochenende der Streuselkuchen.
