It was probably just a thermostat malfunctioning, but there was definitely an over-heating problem at Anker on the evening we dined there. Almost every diner was perspiring, despite having removed jackets or sweaters. Not quite dripping. But enough discomfort to reduce an otherwise 5-star rating to only 4-stars.Apart from the heating malfunction, our experience mirrored that of other reviewers. Everything -- ambience, service, quality of ingredients, cooking skill and presentation -- was as near perfect as we could imagine. Delicious Venison Saltimbocca; a big, tasty Steak Tartare; good local beer and fine Rioja wine; plus a couple of bottles of water. A little expensive, perhaps, at 108 Swiss Francs, but not outrageous in relation to the exceptional quality of this restaurant.We would have stayed to eat more. But the heat problem diminished our appetites as well as our enjoyment.

Heeps of tasty morsels: our evening was palate-tickling at its best! a Wonderful experience: haute cuisine but astonishing light and some really nice wine drops, and what a surprise: (all) best wines available by glass - my favourites: a Sauvignon blanc from the Austrian Steiermark and a blend of Syraz and MourvÃ¨dre from the French Languedoc-Roussillon. Food and wine: not really cheap but worth a detour!

i visited this restaurant with my friends. We took some time to select the dishes from the menu. The waitress who was impatient then suggested the strangest thing I have ever heard at a restaurant. She asked us whether we really wanted to eat there and if we wanted cheaper food she could suggest other Indian restaurants. We found her to be incredibly crude and rude. Since we did not have much time to go to other restaurant, we ordered some stuff, finished our food and left quickly. We also deiced never to go back to this place.Dear Filiform Thanks for reviewing us. As mentioned by you in your review about the incident i tried to to check with our service in-charge regarding that, but to my surprise nothing as such happened and nobody suggested you anything . we take pride in our hospitality and our staff is competent and experienced enough not to behave in this manner with our guest & Our service is appreciated by other reviewers for being professional and KindAs we were very busy this evening and our wait staff didn't really had the time to indulge in these unwanted conversation, Any how we regret the situation that arise may be due to a misunderstanding. As nothing is mentioned about the problem with the food, I assume you were satisfied with it unlike the other Indian restaurant you tried during your stay in st Gallen as reviewed by you on Trip Advisor.

I have been here on a couple of occasions and it is not quite what you expect. The service is fair and the food is good.
