It's worth visiting this restaurant to see and eat in the historic house. It's also worth walking a little bit around the green lake park before or after. We had some delicious dishes (crispy pork was fantastic, the braised shrimp was very good and also the green beans). They have a menu on a handheld device with pictures which helps a lot. On the down side, the service was confused and slow. Just ordering took forever and drinks and white rice arrived almost at the end of the meal. The cleanliness of the plates seemed questionable so maybe bring something to wipe them down.

The plates we have choosen were nice and tasty eventhough the portion of the roasted duck was suite ridiculous.But the worst was the lack of a minimum service for such a restaurant :We first had to ask to change our table as the restaurant was completely empty they had choosen to put us beside a noisy group.Then we had to order spoons to serve the dishes,At 9Pm they were cleaning the dishes noisyly without anymore waitress visible.We had to wait for a long time to get the bill.When I wanted to pay with my MasterCard it was not possible as the waitress should have to go to the reception of the hotel to get the machine.. Fortunately I had enough cash..Finally, it was not possible to get a taxi as the staff told me they were off work at 6Pm a saturday evening !We had then to order a uber ourselves.You cannot imagin such a rude service in a 5 stars hotel.First time last time for us.

You will enjoy pure environment of Islam food. Lot's of unique dishes made by chief. The average waiting time vary by different location, you probably need a reservation in advance. I would like to say if you want to have a nice dinner experience, this is the place.

A great restaurant in a beautifully well-preserved old house right in the middle of Kunming. Dishes are generously portioned and good value. Try the pork belly slices cooked on a hot tile, the steamed chicken soup, and the stir-fried rice cakes (chao er kuai). No English menu that I could see, but there are pictures. Two people could easily dine for around 100-150 CNY.

A restaurant owned by the Jin Jiang hotel group and a reasonable introduction to dining in a Chinese restaurant -- though best to do it with a Chinese speaker and with a reasonable proficiency with chopsticks. Dishes well illustrated on the menu, but that's not much use if you don't know what they are! The food was all tasty -- but that's what you would expect in this great city which is obsessed with food. The donkey meat was absolutely delicious and highly recommended.

The building is a throwback to French colonial style, and with a nice terrace the place has a great ambiance. I went with a group of eight for lunch. The food came fast, and there seemed to be a fleet of servers there to help. We ordered a mix if Chinese and Western food, with the Chinese fare being the better of the two. This place would get full marks if the spaghetti had been a little less salty.

One of the best place I've been in Kunming : the food is awesome, the menu is readable with pictures and English translation, the old train station is gorgeous... Don't hesitate to have a meal there !!!

Excellent food, friendly and efficient service. This place is always a winner. I come here two or three times a year. Yesterday, as always, I made a point of ordering one of their signature dishes: crispy fried red beans é ¥çº¢è±ãThey make several excellent variations; the ones I had were fried with bits of bitter leaf greens, è¦èãThis is Yunnan food at its best.Also had a dish of æ°´ç ®è, made with plenty of cabbage. The bits of meat had been marinated properly and were quite tender. They season such plates to suit the taste of chili-loving locals, so if you want less, you must remember to tell them. Those two plus a bowl of steamed rice cost 50 Yuan. Enough for two people. I don't know if anyone there speaks English. It's possible, but I can't guarantee it. The menus have pictures, but are not bilingual. Diners were mostly Kunming locals, but I met some out of town Chinese as well. I arrived at 5:30 just as they opened. By 6, the place was full and people were eating at small tables set up on the sidewalk. By 6:15 when I left, they were taking names on a waiting list. So, it's a popular place; always a good sign in China. They have been operating in the same spot for 15 years. This is a "don't miss" eating experience if you are coming to Kunming.

Trust this and other TA reviews - you won't be disappointed by Heavenly Manna. We found it easily after exploring the Green Lake area by foot (were we staying and the Grand Park Kunming). While the initial impression was a bit underwhelming based on the cramped decor and the low ceiling on the second floor where we sat (at 6' 2" I was forced to crouch until I found my seat). Once seated though, everything fell into place and my wife, daughter and I had a splendid dinner. I don't recall what we ordered but it was a combination of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and everything was amazing. Service was just ok, nothing exceptional. Total cost for three adults and beers was about 170 yuan.
