We had dinner in Johanssens on a windy September evening.The overall setup of the restaurant made us feel warm at once.Meat and fish dishes were typically German and all those we had were tasty and very good.Service was efficient and friendly.Thanks a lot for your review!

This restaurant serves no nonsense, traditional German (mainly seafood) dishes. It is a self service restaurant, you queue up, place your order, and then take your food to your table of choice. The food was quickly delivered, well presented, and tasted great. The food is ver reasonably priced.The restaurant is based on a dune looking directly out over the beach and Baltic. The view from the terrace is very atmospheric. The terrace has glass screens to protect you from the sea breeze, and parasols to keep the sun off your heads.If you want to laze around, then they serve a good selection of beers and wine too.

The atoshpere comment is that the restaurant is styled very much like a lot of other restaurants in Germany I have eaten in. Very quiet clientele and a bit too formal. Not a criticism, just an observation. It is just on the parade in Timmendorfer Strand so you get to see all the people in their Hyundai i10s promenading in front, the lack of atmosphere in the restaurant is maximised when you hear the cars rumbling along the paved surface, the same i10 sounds like a HumVee rumbling past....obviously on their way to Cafe Wichtig...My partner and her father had Dorchfilet (Haddock IIRC) - delicious, pfifferlinge and potatoes, while I had the pfifflerlinge (mushrooms), roast potato. Excellent dishes. Starter for me was vitello tomato (beef in tuna sauce) and father had shrimps. excellent again. Plus point for me was the availability of Franziskaner Weissbier, nice change from Erdinger. It been a great weather on Sunday so our family decided to drive so far from Maschen to have lunch here after we haven't been for long time and of course my parents last dinning here was spectacular with top notch fish and great service.Unfortunately, the best restaurant of the town it wasn't there anymore. The food and service turned us down. We could have just pop by at any restaurant in our hometown because of same quality.However, the decoration is so sweet.

Seven hungry sailors came. Seven well fed sailors left.All selections from the menu was very satisfactory. We all agree: The food brought to our table were consumed and appreciated (sorry for no pics!) The various brands of beers following the dishes were acknowlegded with joy. The politeness and eagerness of the crew (including cooks) were rated above satisfactory hence the handsome tip.Absolutly a place to recommend.

An excellent restaurant, serving mostly steaks. Service was very friendly and Professional, the food came quickly. We had a pork cutlet on the bone, which was HUGE (at least 1kg), cooked medium rare (not sure they intended it this way, as most people would want theirs well done, but the meat was very good quality and I like it what way) as well as a rib eye, tender, juicy, cooked exactly as ordered. Outdoor seating is nice on a warm evening. Be sure to reserve a table. Our daughter (one year) enjoyed it particularly.

The Café Wichtig is located next to the Gosch restaurant in Scharbeutz and normally is pretty crwoded. I went there with a friend of mine for a breakfast on Saturday at around 11 am and luckily we got a table right at the window to the beach.The quality of the breakfast was average - nothing special and the fresh Orange juice is very small. The service was poor and the two waiters did not seem to look after their guests that well. It took ages to order a new tea and it also took a lot of time, til they did clean up the table.

My husband and I came of the ferry from Denmark around lunch time and decided to get off the highway and find a place to eat. We saw this restaurant as we drove by the sea. This is a wonderful place to dine. The staff fantastic the food amazing the atmosphere warm and friendly, it's s must. The menu is extensive with a wide range from fresh fish to meat dishes and vegetarian options as well. Plenty of good wines on the menu as well. The staff look after you and once your sat comfortable you can just relax into the evening and enjoy your meal. It's a great place for all kinds of visitors from business to romance. I definitely recommend this place.
