Actually, 6 nights for my business trip at this old hotel near the Rathaus (city hall) of Hildesheim. Location is quite good. But, staffs except restaurant did not show their warm minds. Sometimes, I asked to change for bad internet connection, and clean room afternoon, but unfortunately they gave a cold response. Old-fashioned, simple, and small room cannot be satisfied by me. Noise-proof is not sufficient, but also not serious. Heating system was quite good, but a little dry, so I had to prepare a wet tower on it.As there was no choice due to a big industrial Messe (event) at Hannover, I have to stay here for a long time. But, if I have a choice, then never I will stay it. It is not only the problem of their services as some staffs are so kind. Just the overall quality does not meet with my expectation !

We loved the location, being able to sit outside in the main square. The food was, however, only of average quality. The choice was rather limited. I had the recommended spare ribs which came "naked" and accompanied by a side bowl with tomato salsa (supposedly spicy...). The best part was the local draught beer. By the way, they do a good breakfast which is considerably cheaper than that provided by our hotel, the neighbouring Van Der Valk hotel.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the hotel where we were staying. We were just passing through Hildesheim and it was late in the evening, so we decided to try it out. We weren't expecting much, since we expected it to be a small local village restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is very tastefully decorated and the staff very warm, friendly and welcoming. The food is excellent. I had a salad with sheep cheese and my husband had the "Wiener schnitzel", a dish that one expects to be "standard". I tried it too and the schnitzel was one of the best I have had in a long time, nice crispy outer crust and very tender meat on the inside. The salad was very fresh and the dressing not at all heavy. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!

Second visit in my two week holiday visiting family ( my mother is from Hildesheim) and just as good as always. Great Greek food in a fine restaurant with attentive yet unobtrusive staff, very friendly and helpful. Recommend the Giros and Souvlaki both of which are as good as I have ever tasted.

Delightful small restaurant, very popular with locals, that I found only thanks to Tripadvisor - there's just a small street sign to mark the spot. The menu is limited, but what I ordered (a huge pork schnitzel covered in mushrooms) was excellent. Reception and service were very friendly; and since the weather was fine, I sat outside in the small rear garden, which was especially nice. I don't know how many foreign tourists will find their way here, but if they do, they'll find a pleasant and "typical" German dining experience

This is a wonderful Bavarian-style restaurant. I had the pork roast and dumplings, it was good but not excellent. The burgers I saw at other tables looked wonderful. My girlfriend's garden burger was completely different from any garden burger I have ever seen in the states. It was so good I tried it, it was like biting into a patty of fresh vegetables

Restaurant Gildehaus is an appealing contrast of the old with the new. The half-timbered booths are charmingly cosy while the white elements underscore the modern look. These booths are the ideal location for a confidential business meal or a romantic din
We spent there a Sunday evening, having a dinner. Everything was correct, particularly recommendable was goose consommé. Service on the high level, interesting interiors, however it might be considered as a bit too old-fashioned. Quality of food not excellent but having no reason to complaint.

We were 6 persons in rainy Hildesheim who wanted to have some food a Saturday evening. We called a lot of restaurants, visited also but all were occupied, except Dorado! Our expectations were quite low when coming there, but it turned out to be a positive surprise. The meat (rump steak) was very nice and hade exactly the way we ordered. The restaurant can really be recommended!
