We really love that place!! Food us excellent and every time we go there they have different plates. We also appreciate the fact that instead of having to wait there for a table, they put you on a list and call you when the table is ready for you.

A lovely start to our holiday in Costa Brava. Warm hospitality, nice ambiance, large tables and good company. We had the jamon, cod with peas and morcilla, and the delicious suquet fish stew made with fresh fish that was presented to us and chosen beforehand. All washed down with a superb Rioja Tondonia that was excellently priced. Ended with their apple crisp which had a decadent amount of cinnamon and spice. Amazing! Would highly recommend to anyone passing through the area.

It used to be a tapas restaurant in a place with many of them - and it was great! Last summer they changed into a restaurant - little attraction. Now we went as they announced again tapas... but in fact it's a restaurant with some tapas, that we ordered: huge portions! But on the bill it turned out that they didn't give (nor charged) the tapas but the similar plates as meals... which explains the portions for a tapa...It was good but apart from the friendly but little professional service the calamars al Andalusia were way too fatty.Let's not speak about the bill: first the bille from the only other table, then ours with something on it we didn't order nor had and the 3rd time was the good time!Still I'll try again - but then the restaurant as they have a nice selection of iberico meat dishes!Sr Philip hope to see you soon and unfortunately we are humans, we are very sorry about the misunderstood with the bill. As you mentioned before we introduced some tapas, but we still focus on whole portions. Hope to see you very soon with some friends in order to share your food!:)

A friend of mine who lives in Barcelona recommended this place for lunch, stating that the rice dishes were particularly good. We went for Sunday lunch. Whilst being extremely busy (make sure you get there early to make a reservation). Excellent prices and top quality dishes. Loved every minute of it. Definitely a great tip from someone who knows the area.

Stopping in Cala Palafrugell we found this beautiful tapas bar overlooking the mooring area for the many boats. On entering we were greeted very friendly and shown to a table by the window and a drink order was taken for a beer and a glass of wine. Not being used to tapas service we sat observed before venturing to the counter to select from the many and varied dishes, which could please everyone. We selected a mini beef burger, a chicken skewer and a decorated prawn.Returning to our table the waitress passed and pointed out that we should place our little flag sticks and cocktail sticks in the holder on the table and that she would bill us according to their numbers.A few minutes later a tray of Prawns cooked in a potato pastry, were offered and were really tasty, this was followed by a regular offering every 5 or 6 minutes. I have to admit we waited for the prawns to return on a few occasions. It was a beautiful example of how good food in small quantities can be so appetizing and very filling. A wonderful lunch which lasted so 3 hours (It was a dull day outside). With further drinks and coffee, a bill of €33 was most surprisingly good.Very impressive food, service and standard of cleanliness.Thank you for that great explanation of our restaurant! Actually it is great to read your experience and how good it was! Thank you soo much for comming and we are hoping to see you again next year!

Went here as it had good reviews on trip-advisor. We were not disappointed.Really great salad and Paella. The wine I chose was not available but the manager/owner suggested another. Was a great recommendation. Very much enjoyed our time in this very busy and cosy place. Can not believe that after nearly 20 years in the area I have never been here before.Look forward to the next time.Ha sido un placer para nosotros conocernos . We each had starters - Anchovies on bread and fried sardines. The fried sardines were a bit underwhelming in my opinion but my husband loved them. The anchovies were excellent! We shared the lobster paella which was very tasty, nice and hot and had a great texture. I mention the fact that it was hot because when you sit outside to hear, you do not want your food cooling off immediately. The service was also very attentive and friendly. There was only one thing I would have changed - personally,I did not need to see the lobster before they cooked him for our paella and would have preferred to be asked if I wanted to inspect him at our table. My response would have been "No Gracias". It was very nice sitting outside and even though you are sitting next to the pavement where everyone is strolling, you do not feel like you are in the middle of everyone. You can enjoy the surroundings while still feel like you are having a romantic dinner.

We had a meal consisting of the set menu, consisting of appetizers, main dishes and desserts. It was all wonderful. The restaurant served us a small appetizer with olives. We ordered as appetizers fried calamari, and croquetas of chicken and of cheese. Spanish croquetas have a thin crunchy breaded coat over a pasty filling. Both types were savory, and the cheese croquetas were filled with a kind of blue cheese, which kept its distinctive flavor but was not overpowering. Two groups of two diners shared two of the signature dishes at the restaurant: seafood paella, and seafood fideua. Fideua is a dish prepared much like paella, except using inch-long pieces of broken fideos, a fine noodle commonly used is Spain for soups, instead of rice. Both were excellent. I had the chicken, also very good. For desserts, we had chocolate soufflé with raspberry sauce which was not too sweet, just a little tart; sorbet de maracuya (passionfruit) which was also tart, but delicious in taste with a great consistency; mango ice cream, sweet and very creamy with a delicious flavor; requesón (a kind of creamy Spanish cheese) with layers of honey; and crema catalana, which is sort of like a Catalan version of flan with a surface of caramelized sugar, also delicious. All the desserts are house-made. The server was very polite, attentive and engaged, offering suggestions and demurrers as he felt necessary. The woman who served as the maitre d' was also very engaging, and described what were possibly her creations — the restaurant is small, and there were only the two of them in the dining room — lovingly, and made suggestions based on preference expressed. She may have been the owner; I didn't ask. I whole-heartedly recommend it for great food. It cost us €170 for 5 fixed-price dinners, a couple of glasses of wine, some soft drinks, a couple of bottles of water.

Restaurant Vall-Llobrega

We wouldn’t have found this place if not for our newly-found Spanish friends. Located just off the C-31, above Palamos, this restaurant is a local favourite – and don’t we know it, it was sooo busy at lunchtime on a Thursday! People were literally queueing to get in, and they were family groups or friends, nobody looked like a tourist (except us for sure). So glad we made the effort. It is as authentic and as rustic one can ever hope for in terms of Catalonian cuisine. After a 15 minute wait, we were ushered into a huge room filled with people all happily tucking into the menu of the day. At 10€ (3 courses), how can you lose? We had huge slabs of steak for mains, and a local bean stew for starters, and egg flan for my dessert (my husband had a plateful of melon slices for his). Wow oh wow, the servings were simple but generous and so yummy! A glass of local wine and coffee in the end. Our bill amounted to 38€ for 3 of us, and we could have taken half our food home! So good! Love the service too. Nobody spoke English, but my goodness, you felt so welcome anyway, you almost think you’re a local. No wonder this place is popular. ps there is a big carpark on the other side of the road, no problems with parking at all
