Urbino (Italian: [urˈbiːno]; listen (help·info)) is a walled city in the Marche region of Italy, south-west of Pesaro, a World Heritage Site notable for a remarkable historical legacy of independent Renaissance culture, especially under the patronage of Federico da Montefeltro, duke of Urbino from 1444 to 1482. The town, nestled on a high sloping hillside, retains much of its picturesque medieval aspect. It hosts the University of Urbino, founded in 1506, and is the seat of the Archbishop of Urbino. Its best-known architectural piece is the Palazzo Ducale, rebuilt by Luciano Laurana.

Great morning coffee and yogurt at this cafe just outside of Urbino, near the statue of Raffaello. Friendly owner, Giovanni, is happy to make you feel welcome with great coffee, service, and conversation.

This is a nice little bar in a prime location just off one of the main piazzas in Urbino on the main way that heads up the hill.It's a good spot to have some aperitivi and do some people watching. A spritz only costs â¬4.50 and you can help yourself to some complementary finger food or will have some served to your table.I used to go here for breakfast when I lived in the city and on more than one occassion the charge was waived or we were given a bag of croissants after becoming regulars. A lovely little place (and a fair bit cheaper than its neighbour slightly lower down the hill).

Nice place with an outdoor seating area on a busy (in Urbino measures) street. The wine list is long and varied, the staff knowledgeable and the supplements are amazing!

I enjoyed this aperitivo more than most this year. The city centre is great and has a fantastic atmosphere. Lots of wonderful university students hanging out and discussing the topics of the day.Best value drinks in a scenic location this year.Wish I were 4o years younger - this university town is where I would have loved to go to University!!
