The Studio Teashop

We came across this teashop purely by chance. Visiting Ashburton and looking for a place to eat. We passed a few that did not seem inviting until we came upon the Studio Teashop. When inside there was a very warm welcome from the gentleman that greeted us, showed us to a table. The teashop is bijou but cosy. We had lunch which was exceptionally good. The teashop was clean and the gentleman very attentive, we were made to feel at home. If I lived in Ashburton I would be in this teashop a couple of times a week. Absolutely fabulous.Thank you so much for the fantastic review, sorry ive not thanked you sooner we have just got back from glastonbury festival,( ageing hippies i know,) lol,it was lovely to meet you and hope to see you again one day,it really is a fantastic review,Lots of love, steve and dave xx

We received a warm welcome from Kevin, one of the owners, who showed us to our room and gave us all the useful info re breakfast, etc. He was very friendly and took a genuine interest in us which was nice. The room was light and fresh with a wonderful scenic view. We’d also booked dinner for that evening. It was a guest chef evening where a local resident creates a three course menu and guests then rate each course - a bit like Come Dine with Me. Kevin had let us know in advance this was taking place and the menu looked good so we booked on (there was no obligation and the usual menu was still on offer). Overall, a tasty meal and very reasonably priced. The only downer to the experience occurred when ordering drinks with our meals. It was table service and we ordered drinks with one member of the team which was fine...only to find that when we tried to order again later, we were told by a different member of the team that we needed to go to the bar to order - the delivery of this was quite abrupt. Appreciate that after the meal it would be appropriate to order at the bar, but we were still sat for our meal and given we’d had table service to that point it was a bit odd! If ordering at the bar is how it’s always done, I’d suggest communicating this at the beginning to avoid confusion.A tasty breakfast the following morning.Overall, a lovely, dog-friendly pub. Would recommend.Hi, Many thanks for your review. Point taken about the confusion over the drinks service. We do ask that customers get their drinks from the bar. Occasionally, if we are taking a food order, we'll take an order for drinks as well. In busy periods this is not always possible. Having said that, there is no excuse for being abrupt to any customer and I will address this. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks againKevin

We arrived just after the restaurant opened (5pm) and we were greeted by Brian. Brian was friendly and happy and this instantly made us feel comfortable. The restaurant itself gave off a homely vibe.We ordered pizzas which were amazing! Brian was always happy to help if we wanted anything! 100% we’d definitely come back!!

an unexpected find with good food. Has accomodation and is within a few hundred yards of Buckfast Abbey, lying alongside the river.

Our third visit to Abbey Inn (from the states). Really lovely inn on the river. Super relaxing and great location for touring around Dartmoor. The food is also pretty good although on Sundays, a very limited menu. If you like a full english, the breakfast is huge! The rooms are basic but they are upgrading the property as they go. It's worth a stay if you want a lovely retreat to eat, drink, sleep to the sound of the river.

Just delicious and simple. We have been before and found this Chippy after getting off the ferry. We wanted something traditional, home cooked and tasty. We found it here and, thankfully. I stored the location in my phone.Came home from Spain on the Santander-Plymouth ferry and called in before our 7 hour trip back to STOCKPORT.It’s was busy, but soon, our orders were taken and out fresh, perfectly cooked tasty fish & chips was served.Piping hot, nice cup of tea. Plenty of free sauces and condiments and a spotless clean loo.We were asked a couple of times if everything was okay and a nice pleasant farewell when we left.Highly recommended.

Lovely little cafe in Buckfastleigh and went in there at lunchtime. We decided to have a cream tea and it was delicious. We were offered a choice of plain or fruit scones and also strawberry or raspberry jam. The scones were obviously home made and very light. There was a varied menu and full meals also which an adjoining couple were tucking into also commenting on how tasty it was. The staff were friendly and service good. Very good value for money. This place is also open for evening meals.Thank you for visiting the Singing Kettle and leaving us a lovely review, we are pleased that you had a good experience here and hope to see you again when next in the area.

My title says it all. It's a small tea-shop in the splendid narrow high street of Buckfastleigh. The cakes were not at all interesting. It's not rocket science - pay on a good victoria sponge, carrot cake, chocolate cake and coffee & walnut cake and you can't go worng.Hi KeithI’m sorry that you were disappointed with the cake selection. Due to the hot weather, and the cakes melting, we have not been putting whole cakes on the chiller counter as usual. Therefore, we have cut them into single portions & displayed them inside the chiller. There was our scrummy locally-made gluten free carrot cake, a four layered chocolate fudge cake and a Raspberry Ripple sponge cake in the chiller. Not to forget our array of traybake cakes including, millionaire shortbread, chocolate brownie, white chocolate & chocolate rocky road, raspberry & coconut slice, yoghurt topped flapjack, cupcakes & scones on offer. When the weather cools we will be displaying whole cakes on the counter. Thank you for your comment & hope that the next time you visit you will not be disappointed.Kind regardsMichele

Very interesting lunch, all good except for the leeks which were very stringy and in my case inedible. All the puddings looked good and the two I had were delicious.I agree with some previous comments that considering the price a complimentary tea or coffee would be nice. It would be good to have a standard English breakfast tea as the Darjeeling I had was extremely weak.Overall a good experience. Thanks so much for taking the time to review your recent visit to The Riverford Field Kitchen. We're sorry to hear that the leeks were stringy. We're imagining that this would have been a rogue older couple of leeks that managed to make it into the dish - we apologise for this. Thanks also for your thoughts on price and the idea of including tea or coffee. We have looked at this before and unfortunately this would mean we would have to put the set price up for everyone, and when not everyone orders tea or coffee, we decided that this didn't feel fair. We're also sorry that you received the much milder Darjeeling tea. It sounds as if this was bought to you in error as we do in fact serve English Breakfast which is by far our most popular choice. We very much hope you will come and visit us again, when we are hopeful that your visit will be a more positive one.Kindest regards

We were staying in a nearby hotel and were out for a walk with the dog. We stopped in here for a drink. There is a restaurant and bar both of which looked nice and inviting. If we were here for longer we would definitely give the food a try. As it was we had some drinks and had a pleasant time sitting in the beer garden across the road. A nice girl came out and gave the dog a treat but didn’t seem interested in enforcing their stated “dogs on leads” policy. There were a couple of wee yappie mongrels running loose much to everyone’ annoyance but no one seemed to care. The drinks were on the pricey side which might explain why it was quiet on an otherwise busy with people, warm, sunny Saturday afternoon. Thanks for the review. Glad you stopped by and were able to enjoy our lovely garden on what has lately been a rare sunny afternoon. We do ask for dogs to be kept on leads in the garden and our drinks are very fairly priced we believe for location & quality. We hope you will stop by again if you are in the area.
