Very close to Santa Maria, this is probably the best Italian restaurant in the area. The starters and the cappelletti are excellent. With the exception of the meat which is gaucho style the food in general is quite close to what you can find in a proper Italian restaurant. We had a nice local cabernet sauvignon. Recommended.

Carreras

Diversas vezes estivemos no Carreras e sempre saímos satisfeitos. Ambiente agradável, atendimento adequado, cardápio sempre variado e saboroso, no quilo, tanto a comida quanto a sobremesa.

It is a nice place, but many of the offered beers were missing and the ones available were not as cold or tasty as expected. Service could also be improved, as the waiters have not been that kind.Price is fair. Not sure if they've just opened, if that's the case, a move to 4 star will surely happen in the coming months.

You should probably not trust a foreigner opinion on the brazilian churrasco, but all my brazilian friend recommended this place and they told me it serves the best meat in town. My high expectations were not deluded! The meat was superb. The owner and the waiters are gentle and the place is kind of fancy. Recommended.

Vera Cruz - Restaurante e Churrascaria

Reviewed By fbear0143

On recommendation of a friend who had visited the Vera Cruz, we went there for lunch with another friend on our first visit to Santa Maria RS. Our other friend said try the chicken. Well, we did . . . after having to decide which chicken dish to try. I settled on the Filé de frango a parmesão, which was wonderful. When we first arrived, we had to wait for our other friend and so were invited to sit and have am aperitif or at least something to drink. The waiter brought us some little warm rolls to enjoy while we waited. When our friend arrived, we ordered. I was going to have lombo de porco from the churrasqueira, but the waiter immediately advised us that it would be at least 25 minutes. A good thing, as our friend had a meeting, and we couldn't stay so long. So both my wife and I ordered the chicken parmesan and our friend ordered a Supremo de frango, which was exactly that. All the plates were filled to overflowing. Our filets were about twice the normal size in Italian restaurants and extremely tasty. They were accompanied by eve present rice, black beans, and a nice selection of salad items. Our friend has a huge amount of chicken, the same extras we had plus fried and fruit slices. We were stunned by thde sheer amount of food. Our friend took most of his home and said he could make two more meals of it.The food was prepared extremely well, the servers were experienced and friendly and professional, making us feel as we had been invited to their home. I would recommend Vera Cruz to anyone visiting in Santa Maria. The prices are not cheap, but are still quite reasonable for given the amount of food. An important note: Unlike many places in Brasil, service is not included, but if your experience is anything like ours, you should feel guilty NOT to tip at the end. Tax is included in the price. The web site contains a complete list of items on the menu and some tantalizing photos, which look surprisingly like exactly what you will see on your plate when it arrives at your table. Vera Cruz has been operating since 1944, and after only one visit, I can easily see why.

Casa Do Pastel

Reviewed By Marco M
