Standing just outside of the most touristy parts of Ljubljana but yet just across street from the old town, this restaurant offers great atmosphere and location.Although the steaks we ordered (ribeye and beefsteak) were medium-well on a well side although we ordered medium, they were both still very tasteful. Good quality meat and good preparation apparently. We mentioned that to the waiter and he immediately offered to replaced both steaks but since they we pretty good anyway, we just went ahead and ate them as they was. We got a complimentary dessert at the end as a token of apology for steaks being too cooked, a really nice gesture, many restaurants are not familiar with in many cases. A great waiter (blond guy with glasses) was waiting our table so also compliments to him for his entire service. The prices are also very reasonable for what you geat, so without a doubt a 5/5 general experience!

Bold i thought so lets give it a go.They were rightThey are passionate about their steaks .our wsiter was Mika who was wonderful, he explained everything and told us the difference between all the steaks and advised us which ones to have without any pretence of making us have something dearer than we wanted. They also have Wagu and dry aged steaks but our USDA ones were perfectVery romantic by the riverside, will recommend this place to anyone who goes to Ljubljana

Food was very tasty and came out quickly. I particularly liked the Bosnian chicken soup and the beef sausage (cevapi?). The homemade beer was tasty too. Our waiter, Anel, was great and made us feel very welcome.

We went here on our first night in Ljubljana. The service was very good. The waiter offered us a local gin instead of a popular regular gin and it was very good. The steaks were exceptional good and the wine was very tasteful. The waiter asked us many times if everything was ok and even gave us a note with other places were we could go to have a few drinks. Itâs not cheap but itâs certainly worth it!

We had read good reviews so decided to try it despite 3 of the party of 5 being vegan or veggie. We were very disappointed as it was only 7pm and they had run out of the veggie burger with no other veggie option on the menu. 1 ended up with the burger bun and salad, 1 didnât eat and the other had sweet potato fries and onion rings, the two meat eaters had burgers. Despite the disappointment the food we had was very good, the onion rings were the best any of us had ever tasted. The staff and service was excellent but way too much ice in the drinks. As a note.. meat eaters have vegetarian and vegan friends so better options for these food groups should be added to the menu. Yes we could have gone to another restaurant with more options but Iâm sure restaurants want to attract everyone to eat there especially with the growing numbers of people giving up meat.

Spring is here and Odprta kuhna is coming back to PogaÄarjev trg. We expect more interesting food for each taste. It will come from all sides of the world. Opening is dedicated to food from Slovenia. Križanke Summer festival was reserved for all hungry and thirsty visitors. Good start but can be improved.

We hiked to Orle from Urh and had a lunch there. We had expected a traditional Slovene restaurant and were rather surprised by a kind of American/Mexican restaurant.We shared a half of a fried chicken, a Greek salad and finished with pancakes and struklji.The food was tasty and well presented, the service was very friendly and the price reasonable.

We truly lucked out stumbling on this place, and also landing a table without a reservation. Several people were turned away after us. The experience was top notch. From the time we walked in, to the time we left. Having to wait for about 5-10 minutes, the server offered us a half bottle of wine while we wait. (It was excellent too). Talk about hospitality!Once our table was ready the same server offered up several recommendations, which we took...and boy were we glad. We ordered the pork chop, which was my favorite. Grilled porcini mushrooms drizzled with olive oil. A coal baked potato loaded with feta and cottage cheese (a typical Slovenian food) and finished it off with a fillet. All were top notch. Added bonus for the chef coming out and mingling with us and other tables. She was a riot too! They obviously hire talent with personality here!

Since the restaurant is out of Grosuplje, the building is situated in a village and the scenery is lovely. The dinner tables and room itself remind us of times more than 50 years ago. But the Chef cooks in an open fire place and people are able to watch him work. Both chefs as well as the waitress were a part of the evening, asking people about the tastes, small talk, but not interfering at all. The first course had different pork products, the main course was beef ribs that had been smoked before cooked and vegetebles that were also in a pot in the open oven. And the dessert was a delicious pear in dough. Each course had a wine that was perfect to bring out the flavours of the food.A new style, new tastes, an adventurous feeling - something that you should try. Check the pictures and hope you enjoy the meal as much as we did.
