I was very impressed with the service and food. I took my Dad (he is wheelchair bound)here after church on Sunday. Was very pleased with all our food (french onion soup and Pork BBQ sliders for Dad and Butternut squash bisque and Turkey Reuben for me) and our server Megan. Both Megan and the bar staff were very attentive. This place should have a waiting line. If you are visiting Carbondale this is a great place to have a good meal with friendly staff.Dear Jane S,We are extremely thrilled you loved your Sunday lunch with your father. First time visitor. "Initial" impression was good. Nice outdoor covered deck, appears to be well maintained. Seated on one of the high tables near the banister. At the time thinking, I could see me coming back to this place. THEN it started going downhill...........FAST! The table had routered grooves to make it look like it was made out of several boards. The grooves were full of dirt. Don't know when it was cleaned last. Impression of waitress was one of a don't really care attitude. That proved correct. Did not order alcohol. Soft drinks were in cans with plastic cups. YUK! Ordered a half rack of ribs. When the food arrived, it was not a half rack, but six bones with the sparse meat on them cut off the rack. Looks like they are trying to up their profit margin by charging high price and offering minimal quantity. Sauce was bland. Waitress never came back to ask how everything was, or if she can get us anything else. When check arrived, my clothes went out of style waiting for her to come back to take payment. Do yourself a favor and avoid this clip joint.

Title sums up our last few home deliveries. Not sure what's happening @ Frank's, but the last few times we've ordered delivery our orders have been, well, off to say the least. Missing sides, appetizers and latest error ... no beets in a beet salad! How do you omit what seemingly would be the main ingredient? We called and they sent a replacement, as would be expected. We originally thought maybe we just missed them the first time, but nope. Replacement had nice layer of beets blanketing greens beneath sliced grilled chicken. Delicious. We order from here about once a month or two when we don't feel like going out but don't want to cook. Pricey takeout but quality makes up for that. Please pay attention to delivery orders for too many inconveniences may deter us from ordering in the future.

Just returned from our third visit to The Red School House. Mike and his staff once again hit it out of the park. Excellent food and service at very fair prices. Prime Rib was once again outstanding and the service was exceptional. Wish we had a place like this closer to where we live in Forty Fort. Yes, we traveled about an hour 10 minutes each way and was worth every minute we spent in the car.

I was so impressed with this place. I drove by this place for almost 30 years when it was the Herrick lodge. It became the speakeasy a little bit ago. Outside you wouldn't expect when you walk in. This place is great. The food matches that as well. I had the prime rib and my girlfriend had the shrimp and scallop scampi. Both fantastic. Warm bread was great too. We will be back.

The food was really yummy and the service was awesome.We had a great time, until a drunken fool started harassing patrons (though we don't hold that against Arlo's)... We would have liked to stay longer but it killed the mood.We will definitely return!

I own a summer home in the general area and have visited "The Beacon" many times over the years. Many folks from "our lake" a patrons, and the fact that we return frequently and have done so for many years say something about what can be expected in this unpretentious establishment. Light fare of dinners are flavorful, generous and reasonably priced. I have visited a few times this summer and have been very pleased each time. I have no doubt that I and members of my extended family will continue to do so.

This place is our halfway point on a frequent trip to our cabin. Always a great stop, with local "entertainment" and good food. There is a wide variety on the menu. Wings on Wednesday, but a pizza/wing special on Sunday was our choice this time. And it was a great choice! Mary suggested Charlie wings, and they were terrific. We'll be stopping here regularly.
