Called in at lunchtime after I had previously had a lovely Sunday lunch (which I gave a good review). Friends had said this place was hut and miss and I found out why. Initially difficult to get served due to a shortage of staff. Ordered a prawn sandwich with chips and a kid's meal at a cost of about £8.50. The sandwich arrived the bread was hard and stale. The sandwich contained about 10 prawns and a piece of smoked salmon. I have no idea why there was salmon on it as this was not in the menu. I do not like smoked salmon. I had upgraded the tortilla chips to chips for and extra £1, there was literally 9 chips on the plate. The meal and 2 glasses of lime and soda came to £20 which was extremely costly and not of good value.

Not good had Lamb which was a circular mulch when it arrived. Veg was ok but roasties not too clever. Stylish bar serving great food and a wide range of drinks including cocktails. Comfortable surroundings and friendly and efficient staff. Can recommend the steak. Melt in the mouth. I asked for rare and it was cooked to perfection. Just left here now after what can only be described as the best roast I have ever had!Really nice atmosphere and front of house staff were really attentive to. But the beef, wow.. So tender and tasty, cooked to a perfect medium rare and accompanied with that beautiful thick gravy. Was to die for! Huge Yorkshire pudding and crispy, fluffy roasties. The accompanying veg selection was fresh and very tasty.Was nice to be able to see the chef carving the beef through the little hatch, it looked devine.Unfortunately, we saved no room for pudding today but will definitly be back to try that bakewell tart. The Picture House colwyn bay not far from main train station.Was a former cinema and Wetherspoons have kept it as much as possible as it was inside. Nice décor and lights a pleasant place to relax.Very. good service and food at a good price what`s not to like.Thank you for your kind review.we are extremely proud of our pub and even more so our staff so it is great to hear you had a lovely visit.we look forward to seeing you again soon

Following very mixed recent visits, our most recent visit certainly ticked most boxes.The food seems to have improved over recent months, both in quality and certainly more plentiful portions.As usual we were sat in the bar area and for once service was good, not like on most visits where you are seated, the first drinks order is taken and then you donât see the server again.My only gripe is why seat childrenâs parties in the bar area, the venue is big enough and in my personal opinion a bar is best served as an adults area.Hi OnTravelsAgain,Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Weâve been here several times , as a couple, with our daughter and her husband and last night with family... every time weâve not been able to fault it.Whether itâs just drinks you want or a meal, you should be happy here. Last eve we had a meal and we were all extremely happy with everything.. no complaints yet again.Attentive staff , prices reasonable too, clean and warm.

We called in like you last review over the weekend of the Rally, we called in on the Saturday .. We found a table (had to clear it first), sat down ordered drinks at bar and started to review the menu. I had the mussels and I wasn't disappointed with these, others in the party had various starters garlic mushrooms it was described as "OK", chicken and bacon salad .. yes it was good but it was a salad !The mains came out, hubby had a a dish:-chicken and bacon calamarto no mention on the description this was pasta as he can't eat pasta .. when it came out just a plate of pasta .. I mentioned to the server eventually when they came over no offer of another dish nothing, I pointed it out on the menu and he said he will get the menu amended, today menu still the same.Service poor, the servers that was on were pleasant but just over whelmed with the amount of people coming in, they turned away allot of people even though the upper seating area was empty.. We had one desert ordered, of ice cream and the dish that came out was chipped over all not a good experience I wouldn't rush back Oh note to management... We sat in the booth just out side the kitchen, you may want to keep the door shut as we heard everything including the bad language.Hello Mel BFirstly can I apologize for your experience at the Toad, as you can see from the majority of our reviews we excell in quality home made food and service, and again I am sorry that you did not feel this way.Wit regards to the pasta "spelt calamarato", is a type of pasta like spaghetti or tagliatelle, this was explained at the table by our waiter. With regards to the service yes we got caught out by the volume of people on this particular day and again can only apologize that the service on this particular day wasn't of the high standard we come to pride ourselves on.There are no excuses for a chip in your bowl for the ice cream and this has been addressed.With regards to the kitchen, this was brought up in a staff meeting and has been addressed.Thank you for your review and we hope you do rush back to the Toad, so we can show you what we are truly about

We went as a party of 4 with a make up of both none vegan/vegetarian and vegans.This is a clean and well laid out establishment which offers discrete areas where you can engage in convivial conversation. This pub is full of old world charm but its menu is as up to date as can be. If you are lucky enough to be there when the Fishermans Pie is on the specials board you will be in for a real treat. Big chunks of perfectly cooked salmon, hake and smoked haddock covered with creamed potatoes and topped with cheese ~ excellent tastes and piping hot!
