A friend and I were in Arras having been to the Battle of the Somme Commemorations. We were looking for somewhere to eat and it was getting late. From the outside, we thought this was a bar but it has a dining room and we were made very welcome.The owner spoke very good English so that was a great help.Food was well cooked and a decent price.

Perhaps I was just unlucky as many other people seem to really like this restaurant. My wife had the three cheese pasta which she left half of because it was bland and unappetising and I had the salmon pasta that seemed tatsteless - if you had cooked it yourself you would still have been disappointed. We did not stay for dessert. Some positives - they were very friendly with my children - the restaurant dog was a pleasing distraction and that's about it.

We called into this bar after dinner one evening for a drink. There is a good range of draught Belgian beers, and wines by the glass. It was very popular with locals and tourists. There was a good atmosphere and good service.

Everything as expected about a French brasserie. Cosy, leather seated booth, Moucha mirrors, vaseline lamps. Great location opposite la gare. Great service from friendly waitress with good English to make up for our O Level French! The recommended wine was excellent and great value. The ambience was lovely ( France winning a football match v Argentina as the background vibe!).It was just the food which was below par. We just wanted steak and frites - so simple, and when itâs right, thereâs little to beat it. But these steaks tonight were tough, a bit gristly, and pretty tasteless. The chips were OK, and in fact, probably saved the day. Arras is not a foodie place. I struggled to find somewhere I really wanted to eat. Le Passé Temps looked good on paper, but failed to deliver on taste. Iâm not sure weâd have done that much better elsewhere though. Possibly a town which has suffered because itâs squeezed between Lille and Paris and hasnât quite found its own niche?

I was lucky enough to meat a French business colleague for dinner here one evening. It was an excellent meal. Everything was fresh, the service was prompt and professional and the wine was perfect. Overall an excellent dining experience.
