decided to go out for dinner on a wed night & dropped into this place not much on the outside but interesting inside with full size knights & a horse & props from the medieval era. we were greeted by a cheerful & bubbly waitress the service was prompt & very good the food arrived prompty think the prices were high, we ordered seafood basket, fish was a bit overcooked but tasty but really just a bit overpriced for what we had but we would consider going back we really enjoyed our evening the service cannot be faulted & the many items around the room were interesting very much a photo opportunity

North Queensland Cruising Yacht Club

The yacht club advertises "come sail with us" on their website, as do a lot of sailing clubs. You usually turn up on a Wednesday or Saturday afternoon for a bit of fun with friendly races. As the Superboats were on the weekend we enquired, we were told to come about 2pm and see what was happening. We did this, and an hour later was told by a skipper that he was full up, but to ring on Wednesday about 4pm and gave us the impression that we would be able to join him. We rang at 2pm to make sure he was sailing, and were told by the staff that he had told them if we phoned to tell us that there was no room. We realise that at times "outsiders" will have to take their chances, but as we had spoken to him and he knew we had missed out on Satruday and keen to go, we thought that we would have been made to feel more welcome. Don't bank on going sailing with them.

I fish and eat a lit of seafood so I'm a bit fussy that it's cooked right. The spanish mackerel was juicy, mouth watering and perfectly cooked! Crispy hot chips to follow, great service from nice friendly people. Perfect fish & chips! Shame i can't drive from Cairns to Bowen for these when the family wants a good feed....well done guys. Highly recommended!

Food was very good quality for how cheap it was. They were unable to cater for fructose food allergy and had no vegetarian options though which was a dampener on our dinner

Was looking for a breakfast option in Bowen, stumbled across this gem!The outside isn't an indicator for the inside, its much better - see photos.I ordered the big breakfast and it was BIG.Its everything you'd expect for a business breakfast and more. You order at the counter, they deliver (unsure if this is table service or not.PROs - quick service, friendly staff, own rest room, generous portions.CONs - I nearly drove passed it, the outside is bland, the inside is spot on!Tip - it has a nice sunken lounge area, try sitting there if its available.

This is a basic but honest country pub, friendly staff with a really good chef. One of the best steaks I have eaten anywhere and they were very accommodating to my vegetarian companion giving her some tempting options and when she had selected making a great dish for her!

Ive been to bowen before but decided to try a different place for food besides the normal and popular place down the street. Staff were ok and pretty friendly but drink blocked at the bar even though i was clearly there before the other person. Anywho...order safely with food...garlic bread with cheese and bacon and a schnitty with veg and mash.Bread was ok but a tad on the greasy side but ok. Schnitty was ok but the veg and mash tasted like they were cooked in laundry water. Would i come back? Probably not. If you want your basic mediocre pub food, this is your place.Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Dropped in at Bowen on our way to Townsville from Airlie and were so happy we stumbled on this little gem! We had cooked breakfasts and amazing iced drinks and couldn’t have asked for better views while we ate.Would definitely return and recommend! Thanks so much for your recommendation! We might be off the highway a bit but definitely worth the detour! Thanks again, Amanda

We first dined at this pub on a trip in 2016 and were impressed with the food and atmosphere back then. So last week, on another holiday to the Whitsundays, we took an afternoon trip to Bowen and were looking forward to an early dinner. I read that the pub has new owners and we could tell. The dining area now shows greyhound or horse racing on a flat screen directed at all the tables which obviously caters to the local workers, so that was one change. The other is that the food was a real disappointment. I know we were in coal, cattle and cane country, but if you can't do a decent vegetarian dish, then don't list one on the menu. I ordered a Buddha bowl and the presentation was all wrong and it was just cheap salad and totally tasteless. I've had a delicious one up in the Daintree this year, so was disappointed. Hi,Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.Sorry to hear your visit wasn't as impressive as the last time you came to the Hotel. We take all input seriously, so please feel free to reach out to us so we can discuss this in more [email protected] you.
