Restaurant Tim Hong was always a nice venue for a family gathering, because the positive points were always the quiet atmosphere and the friendly, hospitable, dedicated staff. The food was always indifferent, but most important was the nice sit-down with the family. But this time the food was mediocre at best, with large chunks of vegetable and a tasteless sauce. Possibly I was not completely objective, because I had just returned from a trip to food heaven Penang, Malaysia, but my table companions had a similar negative experience with the food. Furthermore, the staff hadn't improved. On the contrary. We had to wait a Biblical amount of time for our bill and at last, tired of waiting, decided to go and pay at the counter. We were also snubbed by a member of the staff when we wished her good evening at our departure. My personal opinion is, that Tim Hong is sliding downhill, also, and that is important, concerning the service of the staff. But Tim Hong must do something right. The restsurant was busy on this weekday evening and is highly spoken of in the town of Vlaardingen.

The place is very unassuming at first glance, but don't be fooled. It's a top notch restaurant with excellent food and best service. The whole thing is designed to be an experience and it is amazing. All this for only 30 euro + drinks. Just got my favourite restaurant in Rotterdam!

Original and fresh food. Dishes with wine pairings : just perfect! You don't eat common asian food, you just discover new flavors. The atmosphere is classy and people really kind. Just close your eyes and trust the Chef! My best asian food experience so far :-D

We went to Zuma sushi for lunch. The cost was good and the sushi was the best I have had in the Netherlands. The service could be better, more attentive, and I can imagine the frustration in the evening when it's busy by people visiting this restaurant being that the service is a bit on the slow side. We had two different servers. The one was very quiet however the other one was very friendly.

The location,decor and staff are great, you can't fault them.Then comes the bad. Most of the people in my party were served(and started to drink)off Singha beers (from august 18.)The manager apologized and changed for Tiger beers(still going off in a few months.) No commercial gesture on the bill.I had the ramen soup with chicken which was litterally only bland noodles and a few pieces of crispy chicken. Some people had the kung fu chicken,found it average. The ribeye was also dry. My litchi and vodka cocktail was the only tasty thing. Overall it was not worth the 18 euro per pers we paid.

I come here every week, it's my favorite place for ramen. You can customize your own ramen, more or less sauce, oil, or add more toppings. Broth is delicious and noodles are home made of local ingredients. And with the price of only 9 euro you keep coming back to this place.

What can you say; you need to book weeks, or even months in advance. It's so popular because it's so special. Chef Yamamoto combines traditional Japanese cuisine with local dutch ingredients. He investigates and researches the best of both worlds. Not always with outstanding results but always an exciting experience.And then you can get a sake, directly imported from Japan, to match most every dish. The only downside, you can't get in on a spur of the moment..

Treated ourselves again to Hamachi's finest, the special sushi & selected sashimi and man, it was as good as it gets. Wonderful fresh fish served they way they do in Asakusa or in the Chojiro in Kyoto. Very friendly staff. Will come here again and again.
