I have visited many of these franchise locations, and these folks really know how to do it right. The food is always hot, fast, and delicious. We have had three meals here now, and it is consistently good, and the service is excellent and very friendly.

Staying in Thomasville overnight for a concert in Greensboro. Wanted a local place that wouldn't be too crowded. Found on my map app. So so atmosphere. Basic grill menu, salads, apps, burgers, wings stood out. The New Orleans pasta was delicious- tons of sausage. Shrimp, chicken in it! Wings were pretty basic. Not the best wings. Server was so great! Very friendly, helpful, attentive. I do recommend it.

We have often dined at their High Point location, but this evening was our first visit to University Kitchen of Thomasville. This location has many small tables very closely packed together. I wish there were comfortable booths available for seating. With the tables that close, you get no sense of privacy during your meal. This evening - a Thursday - there was a comedy magician going table to table performing and making balloon creations. He stayed interacting and doing tricks for a 6 year old at a table beside ours for what seemed like forever. We kept hoping he would stop and move along elsewhere, but no such luck. We endured the non-stop patter most of the time we were waiting for our meal and also while we were were trying to enjoy our meal. He could make balloon creations but he was not entertaining or funny at all, if you are over six years of age. My husband had the Country Steak special with mashed potatoes and gravy, cinnamon apples and sweet tea. His steak was simply fabulous - delicious and fork tender with plenty of gravy. He enjoyed the mashed potatoes and gravy and cinnamon apples as well. The tea was good. I had a standard country fried steak with white gravy, mashed potatoes, and cinnamon apples and all the items were delicious. My steak was very good, but not as fabulous as his was. We also both had garlic sticks as our bread and those were excellent. Our server was good. If you qualify, there is also a 10% Senior Citizen's discount on your entree - tell them at the register in the foyer. I would have awarded this restaurant 5 stars, but the less than optimum seating and the magician's patter reduced this experience to 4 stars. We will dine here again, but never on a Thursday so we avoid the not so funny comedy magician.

Sunrise Diner

We decided to visit Sunrise Diner for dinner this evening. There was a crowd of cars turning into the parking lot. We arrived just in time to only wait a minute or two for a booth. We both ordered the 10 ounce ribeye for $10.95. We both had a green salad with French dressing. Hubby had french fries and sweet tea also. I had a baked potato and water to drink. We each had a generously portioned green salad and were given a bottle of French dressing to use on our salads. Having a bottle of dressing placed on the table was a nice touch. We also had a basket of individually wrapped captain's wafers on the table. We enjoyed the salads. Hubby had a nice serving of french fries but he said they should have been cooked more and needed salt. I was given a nicely cooked baked potato that was generous in size - probably it was 10 ounces in weight. I don't use the "buttery spread' that was in a basket on the table. I asked for and was given extra sour cream for my potato. Our steaks were cooked to order and had a moderate amount of fat and gristle to discard. Hubby commented that the sweet tea was excellent. We had very good service and the restaurant was very busy. Hubby was feeling a bit under the weather and wasn't so sure about this place, but I would go back to eat here again.

We visited for lunch today (Saturday), and our expectations were not too high due to the recent Trip Advisor Reviews. Are we ever glad that we did not choose to go elsewhere based on these reviews?!? The barbecue, slaw, and hush puppies were absolutely delicious, and the Brunswick Stew was undoubtedly some of the best we've had. We have been on a barbecue tour for approximately 5 years now, some restaurants we have reviewed on Trip Advisor, and some not, but suffice it to say that we have visited 70+ barbecue restaurants in NC, SC, GA, VA, and TX, but primarily in NC, and Tommy's stands up to some of the very best!We had the Chopped Barbecue Plate with Barbecue Slaw, French Fries, and Hush Puppies, with a side of Brunswick Stew. We were a party of four, each of us a barbecue aficionado, and we were pleasantly surprised by our delicious lunch. The sweet tea was perfect, and the wait staff could not be nicer, coming back around to top off our glass every time we had a few sips! Because we were celebrating a birthday, the four of us shared a delicious homemade chocolate brownie, which we enjoyed very much!We live an hour and a half away, but if you find yourself near Thomasville, you cannot go wrong with Tommy's! Thanks for a delicious lunch, and we hope to return in the near future.
