Visited here for dinner while we were in the area white water rafting. The wait staff was very attentive to our needs. I had the meatloaf and thought it had great flavor. My wife got steak and unfortunately it was cold when they brought it out. We sent it back and by the time they got it warmed up correctly it was over cooked. They did remove it from our bill though. Their desserts were also outstanding.

We visited here for breakfast on a Saturday around 9:45 am. Easy to locate, free parking. We joined our group who had already arrived, were seated, and served. We were greeted about 10 minutes later and ordered a ham croissant to share. During our waiting time, we noted the beautiful architecture of the church, the windows, the colors, and so on. Noted their gift shop area with local goods for purchase. Everyone was in a great mood. Food arrived about 10 minutes later. Large portion, delicious, and filling. Snagged a few post cards at checkout. Fun, easy-going breakfast for sure!

We were here on a beautiful Friday afternoon and walked right in to a table on the porch. It was very cozy and much like what a secret society location would be. The menu is a little out of the ordinary and the foods we had were very good, came out hot and the service was very good. Our server was very knowledgeable of the area and was happy to answer our questions. We enjoyed our time here an will recommend it to our friends. The only cons were that we felt it was slightly pricey and were disappointed that the homemade chips seemed like they had been done for a while.Thank you for your kind words!

7. The Red OakGrill

Relaxed, yet classy atmosphere. Serving char-grilled steaks, chops, chicken, smoked pork, and more. Grab a quick burger or a sandwich, or savor a hand cut char-grilled steak.

At least once a week I order from The Red Oak Grill. They have great food. Today I had a meatloaf sandwich with tomato and lettuce. Their apple cobbler is very tasty too. I also order cole slaw and baked beans. Their coke slaw is the only one I will eat. My son always has the hotdogs. Their pulled pork nachos are to die for.

For those of you who don't know what a good WV hot dog tastes like, my deepest sympathy. Tom's in Oak Hill WV has been serving WV hot dogs for many many years. For those of you who don't know, a WV is a weiner on a steamed bun with mustard, onions, chili and slaw. Tom's does it right. I started going to Tom's in the seventies and it was just like I remembered ☆☆☆☆☆

This last minute decision worked out well for us. The employees were great from the second we walked in and we didn't wait long for hot plates. Great breakfast; not just a plate of oil. Really enjoyed the bacon, sausage and biscuits & gravy. Coffee was weak.

This is a great locally owned resturant. I've never had a bad experience here. The staff are friendly and attentive to your needs. The food is fresh and made to order. Their burgers are fantastic and hand made. The catfish is always a great choice. Get their signature Mac and cheese as a side with your meal. It's out of this world great. Smoked cheeses and spiral Mac. They also have a great soup and salad bar with lots of fresh choices. They have a daily special that is always delicious. If you're a local give it a try. If you're traveling through or visiting, check out this little diamond. It's great!

The Lost Paddle

The Lost Paddle is the social hub of our little mountain village and we hope y'all spend some time with our ACE family. Kick back with your friends, a cold beverage, live music, and some grub. The Lost Paddle abides.

We were rafting two days on the Gauley and staying in one of Ace's cabins. On check-in, it was recommended that we prepay for breakfast and dinner as there was a significant savings, which we did. We expected the food would be OK, but were pleasantly surprised. Both days we ate dinner at the resort’s Lost Paddle Eatery. Both nights it was only my wife, I and two raft mates. The food was EXCELLENT!! Jim and I enjoyed the sirloin steak so much we had it both nights. My wife had trout one night and salmon the next, both excellent. Jim’s wife had the trout night one and the entre’ chef salad day the second day. Her salad was the biggest entre’ salad I have ever seen, chocked full of good stuff. Needless to say, she could not finish it. I do not understand why people chose to eat elsewhere. The food and service (Priscila and Sarah) were excellent, and at a VERY reasonable price!!!!

Recommended by our rafting guides as a local place with good soup and salad bar. Fresh Romain and leaf lettuce, expected veggies, one pasta salad. Homemade croutons (crispy, buttery delicious), sweet cornbread, pinto beans, and steak/potato soup. That steak soup was in a rich creamy broth with firm potatoes. Very filling. DH got the quesadilla of the day ...bacon, chicken and cheese with a side.$8 add salad bar for $3.99. Soup salad bar alone $7.99. Simple set up. Saturday night local musicians were quietly play instrumentals. Owner and staff do a radio show so interesting people, bonus. Very nice.
