Where to eat American food in New Orleans: The Best Restaurants and Bars

June 24, 2020 Hector Krause

Find out what American restaurants to try in New Orleans. With a little bit of this and a little bit of that all mixed together with flair and panache, beautifully vibrant New Orleans has made the most of marks left by whomever was calling the shots during whatever era over the past few centuries. Hardly a hodgepodge, the result of such a distinctive blend of cultures is an enchanting cityscape, a set of unique traditions that continuously delight the world, and a jaunty way of living that must be experienced to be appreciated.

We had the most delicious meal of our visit at Paladar. Delicious pizzas, large dishes, small plates - each one better than the next. The staff is picky about changing reservations which for us seemed strange as the place was not filled when we arrived or left, but they would not let us add to our table. The service was great and the cocktails terrific.

somewhat hesitant to call any New Orleans eatery my favorite, but this small establishment is that place...great service, delicious food, solid wine list...i've been here three times and have never been disappointed...this time around i had the blackened scallops and they were prepared to perfection! The flash-cooked caesar salad was uniquely outstanding.Thank you very much for this review, Steve. It means so much to us to be considered your favorite! We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to let us know how much you've enjoyed dining with us, and hope to have the pleasure of serving you again many more times!

Worth Driving 100 Miles For…Years ago that was how the local newspaper rated this snowball in the New Orleans area—the highest worth traveling for in the review. And for good reason, the machine was invented by Mr. Hansen, a machine that blows out snow, not shaved ice. It is literally the fluffiest ice on earth, next to that which falls from the sky. No other snowball can compare. Many of the syrups are their recipes and people line up out the door regularly during opening hours till closing time. Since 1939 the master machinist started serving snowballs and the rest is history. Don’t miss it.

Enjoyed a late afternoon lunch during rainstorm . It is eclectic inside and a bit noisy at times . The pimento cheese appetizer was very good and a large portion . The Veggie chili was good with a biscuit that tasted Great with the pimento cheese . Only complaint about chili was it was a bit salty . The Reuben sandwich was also huge with a focaccia like bread . Service was quick considering it was pretty busy .. lots of shops nearby as well .Thanks for leaving a review! We appreciate your feedback. We hope you will come back and see us again soon.

Excellent breakfast, reasonably priced and the service was super! We had a selection, omelette, eggs with salmon, and the fried pancake balls. The grits were as good as we have ever had, even in Texas. Small place but worth a short wait.

We stopped in for an early dinner and the waitress was very nice. We ordered the crab cakes for an appetizer and they were so good! I ordered the shrimp while my husband ordered the cajun jumbalia pasta. The portions were so large that I took half of mine back to the hotel for another meal later.

My wife and I went there today to watch the NE vs Washington game. We were herded into a second floor room where the temp never went below 85 degrees. The female bartender/server was good but would not address the problem. We got a chicken sandwich that was tough and tasteless. From bad to worse: the NE game continually went off the air. Curiously, replaced by the Steelers game the manager (owner?) was a fan of. I happen to know this because I heard him trumpeting his team to fellow Steeler fans. By the third quarter a mob mentality had set in with the fans who began chanting bu....it! When several young guys started advocating violence, I left with my wife. I'm a retired career cop and recognize a bad situation. Beware!CaptacousticThank you for your feedback. We definitely had a convergence of problems that day, and apologize for your experience. Normally, we are a favorite of Pats fans and so many others. We spent many hours reviewing all the problems with the game showing, and as you can see from more current reviews, have addressed all the problems you mentioned.

We stopped into BB King‘a specifically because we heard the band from the street. We had already eaten so we chose to have a few beverages. We were here during the week and during happy hours times. I highly suggest patronizing during this period if you have the opportunity. Prices on various options were very welcoming.
