We ate here twice while in Nungwi. Yes, they have true local food. But Mama Lisa will be happy to prepare a special dish for you as well. And, of the three restaurants I had ordered prawns, this place was by far the best. Grilled perfectly. Once they were served with the local maize ugali upon our request, And, tonight, with vegetables in a coconut sauce and a small salad and the local spinach. Just amazing. A few scattered tables on the sand. Itâs an authentic place at a more reasonable price.

Although there is an a la carte menu available, the daily specials menu is handwritten each day. There is a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian, and it arrives with a smile. The tables along the edge of the property facing the sea go quickly and are the perfect place to sit and watch the sun set.

Saturn clearly is a small and friendly family run business in Nungwi just behind the beach, therefore just a tiny bit more off the beaten track than beachfront restaurants. They cook a decent swahili meal and service is very pleasant, seating comfortable. Prices are low.

We stumbled across this hidden gem just outside the Doubletree at Nungwi.We were welcomed in by the lovely Zeinab who took the time to explain the menu to us.We ordered the Jhinga (ginger) masala prawns which is one of the best Indian dishes I have ever tasted. The service was quick and with a smile.The restaurant area was surrounded by a beautiful garden. The atmosphere was peaceful. And they courteously put on the World Cup football match on the big tv screen for those interested in watching the game.

We both had fish curry and it was delicious,washed down with a bottle of White House wine.It could not have been more perfect for our last night in Nungwi.Sat on the beach by candle light listening to the sea.The staff were very pleasant and efficient and the price was so cheap.

Absolutely amazing food. The ceviche was probably the best I had outside Central America. The service was quick, efficient and very friendly.It is a bit dark so you donât really see what you are eating, but we the tastes were outstanding.Highly recommendable!
