What to do and see in Zhytomyr, Zhytomyr Oblast: The Best Specialty Museums

The entry is 30 UAH. The museum is basically one big hall, packed with exhibits. There is not much text, but provided both in Ukrainian and English. There were some guided tours in Ukrainian but I'm not aware of English tours. The hall was dominated by the full size Soyuz structure hanging from the ceiling. On the ceiling were a couple of other satellites and probes. There were also either full size models of a Vostok capsule and a Soyuz orbital module and a flown Soyuz orbital module. In both the Soyuz modules you could actually put your head inside and touch it - something very unusual for a museum but super cool. They had further a full scale model of the Lunachod-2 soviet lunar rover and the Luna 9 lander. Then there were several pieces of items related to Ukrainians in space, like a fag flown to the ISS and a space suit, space food, experiments etc. There is also a small collection of meteorites, a piece of the moon, and 2 screens that show some space related documentaries. A little known fact is that this museum actually consists of 2 locations. Just across the street to the right, is the birth house of Sergei Korolev - the father of the Soviet space program. Entry to the house is included in the museum ticket and consists of a few rooms with the furniture from his days and one room with items from his office which is the main room in terms of space history. While I spend a good 2-3 hrs here, expect to spend about an hour here or less. Totally worth it!
