What to do and see in Yucatan Peninsula, Yucatan Peninsula: The Best Islands

October 5, 2021 Mikaela Didonna

Hidden gems of Yucatan, such as Tulum, Akumal, Chetumal, Chichen Itza and Merida, offer an authentic taste of Mexico. Akumal and more Caribbean-style Chetumal, near the Belize border, deliver delectable white-sand beaches and great snorkelling. Merida, Chichen Itza and Tulum, with their ancient ruins, offer a passage into the Yucatanâs native history. Nature lovers can jungle trek and swim in subterranean sinkholes filled with crystal-clear water. Bike around the ruins and hop between towns in colectivo vans.

Very large beach area with fun activities. Very clean bathrooms, clean beautiful beach, great food and okay cocktails. A little shopping area with vendors. I wish we could have stayed longer.

Isla Blanca

This is a completely different beach area as normally we see in Cancun. The place is very nice the sea is so clean and absolutely blue as Cancun but the better thing it's this is a virgin space. No resorts, no buildings, no stress. The place is very nice very familiar and comfortable, you can have a nice time the special thing there is by the right side it is the sea and to left side is the lagoon. You can get there by car and its a little long time a part of the way is a street and other part of it is a unregular street and if you want to stay closer to the beach you have to pay about 30$ MNX. There you can rent some kayaks to make your visit better. Recomendations - Don't forget food. There you can get some offers but if you carry food is better. - Take your umbrella. The place is very hot if you have it take it, but also you can rent one there. - Use a biodegradable sunscreen. - If you take your dogs be responsible about them, keep beach and sea clean. - You can rent some kayak the cost is 200$ MNX per 2 pax per 1 hour. - To pass there, the parking is 30$ MNX - HAVE FUN!

Some beautiful beaches and delicious food. Currently still quite basic, with sand roads and limited street lighting and internet. Plenty of birdlife to be seen and other wildlife too, plus of course the stunning sea. (right on the boarder between the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean). Still low key, but under development, so likely to change going forward. That'll be a sad loss.
