Went to Niagara Falls on the off season, during late fall, stumbled on this gem of an adventure! Aside of the falls, was the highlight of our trip. 1700 horsepower jet boat plowing through class IV and V rapids was very exciting a bit scary...MoreWow! The power plant exhibits were very well done and engaging. We ended up off to the side on our visit and were the only couple there and had a very in depth conversation with one of the personnel there....that was quite informative! The "trip" was fun, funny and also educational. Well done...

Old Fort Niagara is a living history site within close driving distance of Niagara Falls (both NY and Ontario) and Buffalo, NY, featuring original 18th-century stone buildings, built by the French and British, and daily interpretive programming that spans its three centuries of history. Open daily at 9 a.m. with ticket sales ending at 4:30 pm (ticket sales end at 6:30 pm in July and August).

It took a long time to get to Fort Niagara, but it was worth it. Excellently preserved Revolutionary War era fort commanding the outlet of the Niagara River into Lake Ontario. This location was militarily strategic to the armies of both sides of the Revolution and 1812 wars vs England. Originally established by the French in 1679 and taken by the British in 1759 during the French & Indian War. Captured by the U.S. in 1796 only to be taken back by the British in the War of 1812. Old Fort Niagara served as a training station and active barracks from the Civil War until the last army units were withdrawn in 1963. A New York State Park.
This historic site is very well restored and the re-enactors are true to their roles and very informative to visitors. The fort is located inside the Fort Niagara State Park next a active US Coast Guard Station.
Plan a full day to take it all in. Picnic in the park. This could be combine w/ a visit to Niagara Falls only a half hour south.
Final note: We have finally visited all the Revolutionary War era forts in NY State. The only disappointment was the same at every fort: "No sir, you may not fire the cannon!"

On our way to Niagara Falls some friends had told us about this “don’t miss” - we agree! This fort has tons of history and is very well preserved. Musket firing and talk was informative and admission price was a bit high for a state park but you can see it’s going to preserving the fort!

We are camped here on the shore of Lake Ontario. Sites are large with beautiful views and a short distance from Niagara Falls. Sites have electricity for us to run our ac. Bathrooms were clean, but quite a distance away. There is a dump station, fire pits, camp store and lots of information in the office. We arrived after hours, but had our site number. Our park pass gave us free parking at Goat Island. Used it twice. $79 for 2 nights.

This is a captivating site with serene gardens and a beautiful setting. The sculpture garden contains over a hundred life-size sculptures of various saints and a huge rosary made of lights. The shrine itself is contained inside a dome-like structure. Everything is spotless, but the grounds needed weeding and some extra TLC. The visitor center has a large gift shop, a cafeteria and bathrooms. Ample parking. Free to all.

Someone recommended we stop here on our way from Niagara to Buffalo and we were not sorry we did! The Basilica itself is in need of care and signs posted said that there was some sort of legal dispute which stopped them from renovating. The grounds are beautiful though and the garden of saint statues was very inspirational. Only problem was that the weather did not cooperate. Still a beautiful experience!

Went here to go peach picking for the first time. They were very friendly and helpful at setting us up and everything. They also sell fudge, baked goods, fruits, jams, maple stuff and much more. There is a cafe in there now and although we didn't try anything out of that it looked good with sandwichs & coffee etc. Would definitely recommend when in the area to stop by here

I've been to several shows here over the years and have always had a great experience. Historic Lewiston is beautiful and this venue never disappoints. The party in the park is well done, always a great lineup and a terrific price. Cold adult beverages and food for sale. Clean, safe and great sound.

Located on the shore of the Lower Niagara River in Lewiston this display is one of many underground sites in the area. It is composed of a copper colored reenactment of flight by boat across thriver by fugitive slaves to freedom in Canada. An adjoining park with glider swings and benches adds additional enjoyment to the site . An annual smelt festival in the spring brings hundreds of folks to the site.
