What to do and see in Yorkshire, England: The Best Food Tours

September 18, 2021 Margarita Chappel

Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

Local Leeds food tour is a great afternoon. Nell has crafted a fab tour. It was a relaxed and friendly tour, it felt like a friend showing me around town. Nell leads you to all of the best eats, supporting indie restaurants and picking food items that are interesting and have a story to share. The tour also combines history of the food and Leeds. After living in Leeds for a year the tour took to me to venues I'd walked past but never tried. And places I'd walked by but never noticed. I loved these venues so much so I went to them again on my own. Highly recommend these tours for locals and tourists alike.

We decided to do the good tour on the last day of our break. We visited 5 places for our 5 course tour: starter, main, sweets, ice cream, cheese and biscuits with beer. Couldn’t fault any of the places. Food was delicious. It was a bit of a walk to the ice cream shop but well worth it. The owner was delightful, really interesting and very generous with the samples. Parkin Ice cream? Yes please. Our guide was friendly and knowledgable would definitely recommend

What a wonderful gift. We love to try out new foods so this was the perfect gift for us, who knew there were so many vegan options in Harrogate to choose from. The mix of eateries was great, all the food was delicious and it was great to find out about the restaurants origins. Our host was friendly and knowledgeable, we were the only guests on the tour which was nice as it felt really personable. Looking forward to returning to Harrogate to try out some of the places full menu.

Me and my boyfriend visited to do the Christmas family workshop which was so fun! The workshop was lead by Sam who was amazing and really informative about all the chocolate and different creations we would be making and really fun. We were first checked in and asked what hot chocolate we wanted which was included in our ticket, there was lots of flavours, syrups and toppings to choose from which was lovley. Then we went through into the end of the tour section which was all closed and cleaned from the daytime ready for our evening workshop. I'd definitely recommend doing a workshop at York's Chocolate Story and I'd love to visit again and do the tour. Everyone was really friendly and the shop had some really cool things to buy also.
