Glen Helen Nature Preserve

1000-acre nature preserve with 25 miles of trails. The "Yellow Spring" of which the town takes it's name can be found here.

This was our first time visiting Yellow Springs. We parked at the Quarry Street parking lot which was $5 to park. The Ecological Center as well as bathrooms were closed at the the time due to COVID. So you will need to go into town to use the bathroom (we just went to Young’s Dairy Farm). You are asked to wear your mask when passing others on the path and people were good about doing so. You can download a map once you get there. Signs are posted along the trail saying one way or two way so make sure you are going the correct direction. We didn’t have any issues getting around. We wore hiking boots which made it easy to hike the trails. We loved it and would love to go back again to hike more of Glen Helen. On this trip we got to see the The Grotto, The Old Dam Bridge, The Yellow Spring, Helen’s Stone, The Cascade’s, and Pompey’s Pillar. Would recommend for a fun day of hiking!

Little Art Theatre

Reviewed By AMChs1957 - Yellow Springs, United States

Few American town with fewer than 4,000 people have a movie theater. But Yellow Springs isn't the usual town. The Little Art Theatre began in 1929, and in 2009 was made a non-profit and overhauled. The result is a comfortable, cozy movie theater that brings villagers (and visitors) together with movies, a number of local programs (talks by successful local authors, special movies and programs for youngsters, a New Years Eve "party," etc.) The theater was gutted and overhauled, emerging with digital projectors above and a remodeled interior with comfortable seating below, and even tall sitting tables in the back if you want to sip and snack there. You will feel comfortable, not lost or alone, in this movie house that brings people together in a snug, delightful place. Of course, the main thing is that you have to want to see the movie.

Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve

Reviewed By PamGlinski - Sebring, United States

The Fall foliage was one of the reasons I chose to visit Ohio in October, and I wasn’t disappointed. Clifton Gorge has a variety of scenic trails worth hiking. I found a good walking stick to help with the sometimes rocky pathways. Make sure to parking in the Nort Street parking lot because it is the beginning of three separate trails, one of which leads to the Blue Hole, the subject of a famous painting that hangs in the Cincinnati Muesum.

John Bryan State Park

Reviewed By BloomChemist - Morrow, United States

First snow trilliums are beginning to bloom in the gorge! (March 10, 2021) John Bryan State Park is one of my favorite places to hike with wildflowers. Also found a first hepatica blooming and a bit of harbinger of spring. It's great that the south bridge has reopened, allowing for a loop walk inside the gorge.
