Wattamolla Beach

Reviewed By 993anitat - Forster, Australia

We drove down through the Royal National Park to Wattamolla Beach. I hadn’t been there for probably 30 years. The views from the cliff top over the creek and beach are beautiful. There is a new toilet block being built at present with an information area. The old track down to the beach has been closed and a new one with great sandstone steps and stainless railing has been built further around. We walked down to the beach which is lovely before heading out along a walkway to the lookout on the southern end if the bay. There are lots of picnic tables and bbqs near the top and there are a couple of car parks. But may I suggest that if you intend heading out there in the weekend, head out early as it soon packs out.

very long beach - great for long strolls. very floury and fluffy soft sand (as are most beaches in the wollongong/shellhabour area). Great pools, heaps of parking, licensed restaurant open late, pet friendly sections, picturesque area, very clean water.

Beach Cove Belmore Basin

Reviewed By 993anitat - Forster, Australia

We were spending a couple of days in Wollongong and so the first place we went to look at was Belmore Basin. We managed to get a park up near the lighthouse and had a walk around. The views over the basin are just wonderful. Unfortunately, the day we visited there had been a fuel leakage which closed the beach, not that it kept too many from having a swim or paddle. There are quite a few restaurants in the area, we had a lovely lunch of fish and chips at one of them while watching all the people passing by. There is a fabulous shady kids playground which was really being used. The shade trees are lovely so it would be a really nice place to bring a picnic rug to and just relax.

Austinmer Beach

Reviewed By 650geoffg - Canberra, Australia

The Austinmer Beach facilities have been well thought through in design and layout. There's good parking, ample seating toilet and shower facilities and a beach long concrete ledge to also sit on. The ocean pool at the Southern end is popular, and with it's clean sand and food outlets just across the road it has all you need for a pleasant time with family and friends.

Wollongong City Beach

Reviewed By DominikJ78 - Sydney, Australia

Located in a convenient spot in Wollongong, it is near the lighthouse and the large cafe with a lot parking around. Some great views of the beach available from the top but the beach itself is large and has a lot of place for tourists and beachgoers.
