What to do and see in Wisconsin, United States: The Best Tours

November 27, 2021 Phylicia Berquist

When you think “adventure travel” you probably think of far-flung places like Belize and Alaska—not Wisconsin. But if you’re an outdoor adventurer, you’ll find plenty of places to explore in Wisconsin. A vacation in Wisconsin can put you close to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, which has excellent biking trails. Or choose Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands—kayakers will love exploring Lake Superior’s many caves and shipwrecks.

Packers fans don’t wear those cheese-wedge hats for nothing! Foodies will love tasting as many of Wisconsin’s artisanal cheeses as possible. Either drive from cheesemaker to cheesemaker, or choose a Wisconsin vacation in a town with a good farmers’ market—then the cheesemakers bring their wares to you. And what goes better with artisanal cheese than craft beer? In Milwaukee, visit the Lakefront and Sprecher Breweries for tours and tastings.

Wisconsin Dells is a classic family vacation destination. A vacation in Wisconsin Dells will put you close to all the excitement—you’ll have to tear the kids away from the theme parks, wave pools and water parks in Wisconsin Dells!

Lake Geneva boasts clean beaches, golf, and a small-town feel that definitely appeals to city dwellers—it’s a popular getaway for residents of Chicago.

We had a tour of Peninsula State Park today with Mark as our guide. Had a wonderful time. Mark gave us lots of great information and stories about the area. Very personable and fun to spend a couple hours with. We had been on Segways five or six times already and didn’t need a ton of instruction. However, Mark was great...first making sure we were competent and then also making sure we were watchful of fallen tree limbs and such on the roadway...very attentive to our safety. Overall would definitely recommend.

Hello we were unsure which Segway tour to do and with Nick’s help we picked the Peninsula State Park tour. We originally picked 10am but they were wonderful since there was openings for the 2pm tour which was better with lots sun! Our tour guide Mark was all about “Safety” which made many of us feel great about. He made sure everyone could handle them in “turtle mode”. A few got a little more safety lessons from Mark and then they understood and felt better to start onward. Mark stopped for lots pictures, wait for others. Mark talked of plant life, mushroom type at beginning of tour showed us one, he helped those to adjust helmets properly. The equipment was top notch and these Segways are not cheap to own, maintain. We all met at office then were given a day parking vehicle pass (included in price) , followed Mark to park parking spot, each got individual training, then off to a fantastic Segway tour of Peninsula State Park! Book a tour with this company and enjoy it and do highly trust their recommendations as we did. Thanks Mark!

On the campus of the Milwaukee School of Engineering, the Grohmann Museum is unique in that it's the only museum of its kind in the country, and perhaps the world. Nowhere else will you find a collection and exhibition program dedicated to the art of labor, engineering, and human achievement.

The highlight is definitely the rooftop sculpture garden, but the Grohmann Museum offers a unique insight into the way artists have depicted labour over the years. My main criticism is that it is a personal collection so the works on display reflect Mr Grohmann’s prejudices - there are few Black people and the workers are largely male. Even so, I spent two hours here and learned a lot.
