It is a mystic place with a lot of stories. It is a natural beauty which is worthed to be visited . If you drive on an off road for about 5 km you can park near a camping place and from there you can hike for about 5 km on a spectacular forest path.

This lake and the surroundings represent a great place to relax for a weekend and to enjoy green forest. You may have also short trips or you may go boating on the lake. We have spent a weekend using our tents, since there are many places to camp.

Lacul Surduc

Located within the village of Fardea, the dam that led to the formation of Lake Surduc began to be built in 1972. Surduc accumulation reached almost 25 million cubic meters of water in 1977, but it was designed to accumulate a water volume of 51 million cubic meters. Surduc Lake has the main purpose of providing drinking water to the Timisoara area.

The Surduc Lake is located only 90 km from Timisoara, about 1 hour drive, and is the biggest lake from the Western part of Romania (it has a surface of 460 ha). The area is very nice, you can go with a boat on the lake, you can visit the surroundings.

Having a fresh juice or eating lunch by this lake at its numerous restaurants after a hot summer day or renting a boat/kayak to explore its surface are some of the best things to do at this lake! Surrounded by forests, this is a place to chill for a couple of days!
