Salmon River Trail

Nice easy terrain with views to the river. We actually did the old salmon river trail portion of this. You need a national access pass to use the trail because it's in a national forest. Lots of cool opportunities to talk about moss on trees, bugs, old growth forests, and just all around fun. We found a sandy beach and got our toes in the icy water too.

We really enjoyed our trip fly fishing with Tyler. We were fishing on the beautiful Trillium Lake, with a gorgeous view of the mountain. We had the lake almost to our selves. The trout were fighting and biting. Tyler fixed Smoked Pork tacos for lunch. My brother flew in from Texas, I wanted to show him a good time. He had a blast. I will be back soon. We fished from a boat, there is an option to hike back to a secret spot. Not going to say anymore on that. It is a secret! I do want to try ice fishing later this year.

Wildwood Recreation Site

First visit and will definitely return. There are 3 primary trails to take in this lovely tree-lined park. Wetlands, following a stream, and going by the remnants of an old mill. Flat (mostly paved) and easy walking. Good for all ages and abilities. Lots of benches at the first two (with delightful carvings).

The Courses at The Resort at The Mountain

The Courses, The Resort at The Mountain's 27-hole golf course nestled in the Salmon River Valley of the Mt. Hood National Forest, is open to Resort guests, members and daily-fee play.Tee off on three distinct nine hole tracks. There’s the region’s oldest course, the Pine Cone Nine. And the signature Foxglove Nine. Plus the forgiving Thistle Nine. Even non-golfers will enjoy spectacular views from the 19th hole!

We booked a 3 day Max Golf outing. Three 9 hole courses, Foxglove is the best. Courses were in good condition, speed of play good since it was a chilly few days. One course was a bit ragged and another course had too many geese which made for nasty greens loaded with poo.
