Schifffahrt am Weissensee

Reviewed By Eric-Jan - Lommel, Belgium

We did the entire 2 hours boat tour in excellent weather conditions, providing continuously changing and great views. People were diving into and swimming in the lake and waving their hands as you pass them. Staff on the MS Alpenperle (operated by the Müller family; M1 on the schedule) was friendly and supportive. Food and drinks were OK and not too expensive, but overall value for money could have been better. Both indoor and outdoor Seating were very relaxing. Highly recommended to enjoy the beautiful views in a relaxing way!

Weissensee

Reviewed By Hendrik_NL - Rotterdam, The Netherlands

And rightly so. There is much to do around the Weissensee, not in the least the "Bergbahn" which offers a magnificent view over this body of water. But boat trips, boat tours, water sports, eating and drinking are all provided for. And in the winter, when the Weissensee is frozen over, the Dutch skating enthusiasts come over to ride the alternative "Elfstedentocht" (Eleven Cities Tour). This is a skating tour along eleven cities in Friesland, the Netherlands, which seldom can be organized, because of the clement winter weather. So the frozen over Weissensee is their alternative.

Weissensee Bergbahn

Reviewed By Hendrik_NL - Rotterdam, The Netherlands

The Weissensee Bergbahn offers a trip in an open seat to the summit of the mountain. On top of the mountain, several activities can be developed. Having a nice walk is possible; on a 12 minutes distance a restaurant is situated. Mountain bikers take their bike up in the Bergbahn and barrel down the mountain on their bike, nerve chilling, over narrow paths. A limited number of picnic seats with view over the Weissensee are provided for. But the icing on the cake is the ride down with spectacular views over the Weissensee and Techendorf. At the base station, ample parking is provided for. Don't forget to pay 6 Euros for parking fee at the ticket machine. And don't forget to reclaim the 6 Euros at the ticket counter of the Bergbahn by presenting the stub of the parking ticket, when getting your Bergbahn tickets. Free entrance with the Kärnten Card. Also then you get the parking fee refund.

very convenient for renting your skates etc. right next to the lake. a bit overrun during high season, and not a bargain basement, but what you et is of decent quality.
