Richloam General Store

The Richloam General Store was founded in 1922. It served as the store, post office and train depot for the community of Richloam until 1936. In 2016 the building underwent a major restoration and after being closed for 81 years, the doors reopened February 2017. In October 2017 it was added to the National Register for Historic Places.

I am always one to go out of my way to visit unique and historical places, and the Richloam General Store fit the bill. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. A quaint little place, with rocking chairs outside, and lots of things to look at on the walls inside. I only wish the the merchandise sold inside was more local. They sell a wide variety of jams, jellies, candy, and other southern fare (like pickled okra!). But they also sell amish food, and "retro-style" toys. However, none of it seemed to be locally grown or made. We ended up buying a magnet, a drink, and a few candies. The man who was running the store (owner?) was extremely friendly and told us about his plans to add on to the General Store, to include a BBQ stand, reproduction of the train depot, and mill area. It sounds fantastic! Glad we stopped in and saw this little piece of Florida history.

Webster Westside Flea Market

There are more vendors here than I have ever seen at a swap meet. There are lots of food and veggie vendors too. Antique deals galore. Plan on a whole day of walking to see all of this. Every Monday and parking is $5.00. A day.
