What to do and see in Waterfront Communities-The Island, Canada: The Best Spas & Wellness

November 30, 2021 Malia Yoakum

We've heard Toronto described as "New York City run by the Swiss," and it's true—you can find world-class theater, shopping and restaurants here, but the sidewalks are clean and the people are friendly. The best place to start is literally at the top—the CN Tower, the tallest freestanding structure in the Western Hemisphere.

H2O Float Studio

Welcome to H2O Float Studio in Toronto's Historic Distillery District. Experience a level of total relaxation that you have to feel to believe! Melt into a serene experience of weightlessness and tranquility, restoring balance to the mind and body. Float in one of our Cabins, where the temperature of the water and air are maintained at a constant 34 degrees Celsius. As this is the body's normal skin surface temperature, it creates a feeling of oneness with the water. Our Float Cabins each contain over 1000 pounds of the highest quality of Epsom Salt dissolved in 10 inches of water. The water is circulated and filtered 24/7. Although the 1000+ pounds of Epsom Salt is already extremely sanitizing, the water also passes through a UV and an Ozonator filter.

I had the fortunate pleasure of experiencing the new H20 Float Studio in the Distillery District last week. The new studio is conveniently located near my place of employment and offers a no muss, no fuss experience for those looking for the benefits of floating without the need for a spa-like environment. Paid street parking was easily found right outside the studio. What I really liked about this session was the new cabin experience. The cabin is fully encapsulated and quite large! If I wanted, I could stand up inside with my arms raised and still have room, its that spacious. Anyone who might feel claustrophobic in confined spaces, like in a float pod, may not experience that in a cabin float. I chose the sensory deprivation experience (they offer a few different options that include starry skies, nature music) and melted away within a deep dark abyss. Another difference from H20 Float Spa is the change area is now part of each float room. They have special vinyl flooring so a floater can shower right inside the room open concept style. I thought it was apropos that the cabin reminded me of a large brew tank- the ones that distill beer! It is the Distillery District after all. I highly recommend H20 Float studio for those that seek a deep therapeutic float experience without the need for spa like setting. Perfect for those on the go! Cheers!

Ive been going to Hammam Spa for a few months now on a regular basis; Ive done the turkish bath, Facial Treatments, and regular deep tissue massages. The Hammam Spa is extraordinarily relaxing, the staff exceptionally attentive to any and all needs. If one thing stands out about Hammam Spa, it is the prodigious deep tissue massage performed by Sal. He is unparalleled in skill and I have always left feeling significantly better than when I walked in, I feel better in mind, spirit, and physically. I highly recommend Hammam and even more so recommend Sal if you are seeking a masseur with talent. I continue to book exclusively with Sal and will do so for the foreseeable future.

Body Blitz Spa

To celebrate our birthdays (hers in late September and mine in early November) a friend recommended we visit Body Blitz Spa. I’d never been, so was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and facilities, and the rates are very reasonable. Catering to women only, it’s a great place to unwind, and soothe body and soul by taking in the spectrum of water-related activities. I especially loved the salt water pool and eucalyptus steam room! Everything is very clean and well-maintained. There was even someone squeegeeing the floors in the main service area to help avoid slipping. Now that I’ve found this, I will be back to sample the spa services!
