Jalakandeswarar Temple

Situated on the banks of Palar River, Vellore is a historically rich city that has appeared many times in chapters of Indian history. Being an integral part of Tamil Nadu, Vellore draws the picture of deep- rooted Tamil culture being practiced in the region since generations. It is strongly attached with Hindu Gods and Goddess and one can get a clear reflection of traditional Tamil customs and rituals being carried out in the temples. The historical Vellore Fort houses one of the finest examples of Vijaynagar architecture, the Jalakandeswarar Temple. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is worshipped here in the form of Jalakandeswarar. It is one of the ancient temples in India that houses a well inside its complex that is considered to be Ganga. The main deity of Jalakandeswarar in the form of Linga with Rudraksha Mala is found inside the garba griha. Unfortunately, this temple remained closed for a considerable time period when its main deity was shifted to a distant place. The deity was later brought back to the main complex and is now worshipped by hundreds of devotees throughout the year.

Fundera Park

Fundera Park is a place where your complete family can enjoy your holidays with a new experience. We have more than 300 exotic non indian birds and none of them are caged and you can enter into their aviary. Also we have a petting farm, where your children can have hands on experience. We have the first 7D Cinema in Yelagiri and a recently introduced VR center and horror house as well. Attention: For all of you visiting us, do look out for our above logo with "Fundera". Kindly, don't get misled by a neighbouring park under the name Fundara with a similar logo. We are two separate entities and we cannot claim any responsibilities for any events/happenings there. Thanks for understanding! Tickets can be booked online via bookmyshow: https://in.bookmyshow.com/activities/fundera-park-pet-sanctuary/ET00113645

If you are going with a family with kids, this place is a must visit. Kids thoroughly enjoyed here. You can easily spend 1-2 hours in this. This park has all the farm animals - rabbits, guinea pigs, pony horse, goats, cows, different species of hens and roosters from different parts of the world, colorful chickens, and different kinds of parrots. Fees: Entrance fees per adult is 300/-. I guess if the kid's age is 6 or below, the entrance is free. We too felt the price is little on the higher side, but it was totally worth it. In this 300, you get to see the entire farm animals park + any one of the following: 7D cinema, fish spa, paint ball and few more things. We chose fish spa for ourselves, and we took our kids to 7D cinema. You can chose an activity separately by paying 100/-. Both the experiences were good. Kids below below 3 years are not allowed in 7D cinema. Farm Animals: We visited the place at morning 8.30 (opening time) itself. The animals were being moved in cages to their respective compartments. The kids were very excited to see them. The staffs over there, were very courteous and allowed us to touch the animals. Parrots: This is the main place where your kids can enjoy a lot. At the entrance of parrot cage, you will be given handful of sunflower seeds. You need to feed them (not all at a time) to the parrots there. Don't miss to feed the bird 'funky'. He is the biggest in the cage who scares other parrots. Cafeteria: Make sure you take something to eat for your kids. There is no restriction on taking the food items inside. But you are not allowed to feed them to the animals. We ordered noodles for our kids at the rate of 50/- per plate. We felt that was costly for a plate of noodles. Overall experience: This is a must place to visit once when you are in Yelagiri. Anyway, you don't have many places to visit in Yelagiri other than this, boating and couple of trekking and temple places. So, make sure this is on your list to visit first in the morning. Caution: There is another park with almost the same name 'fundora park' at the entrance of this park. Make sure you don't fall prey into that dirty trick.

I went CMC Vellore Hospital for treatment. My treatment took one month almost. So in this long period of time patient & attendance can relax there @ fort . This is a historical place as well . It's a very big & well protected fort used by local king of Tamil Nadu around 1700 years . Structure of this fort is very rare & made with natural rocks ! Amazing to see.
