Welcome to Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University, home of New Jersey's first elected governor and signer of the Constitution, William Livingston. Built in 1772, on the eve of the American Revolution, Liberty Hall has been a silent witness to more than 200 years of American history. Over the last two centuries, the originally designed 14-room Georgian Style home has grown into a 50-room Victorian-style mansion. The site houses extensive collections of antique furniture, ceramics, textiles, toys and tools owned by seven generations of the Livingston and Kean families. Ancestors of the Livingston/Kean families have included Governors, U.S. Congressmen and Senators, entrepreneurs, and pioneering women with vision and strength. The stories of their lives, passed down from generation to generation, tell how this family met the challenges of a changing nation. Visit Liberty Hall Museum and discover the living past. Liberty Hall Museum has it's own parking lot and it's free.
This museum/house contains the belongings of the Livingston/Kean family going back to Revolutionary times. Exhibitions on special themes are rotated periodically. High tea is available on certain afternoons. The house has a large farm whose products are used in the nearby Ursino's restaurant. Both are on the Kean University campus across the street from the main area.

This is a museum where you need several hours to really see everything and they close at 4 pm. so plan accordingly. We ran out of time. You can see Edison's workshop, library, stock room along with multiple other things - like the first movie production site, a display of the original phonograph (that still works) and so much more that it is hard to remember it all. We plan to return again when we can go and view his home in nearby Montclair in warm weather - opens in April.

I go here alone or with a friend to take a stroll or jog...depends on my mood. It's very safe and the scenery ranges from beautiful homes to beautiful waterscapes.

I have stopped to take a look sometimes a take pictures.
This is one of the largest cathederals on the East coast, from what I have read about it.
There are nice Italian restaurants and bakeries nearby. This was once a major Italian neighborhood at one time.

Casts and production values are topnotch. I've seen The Bodyguard, The Producers, and Mary Poppins here and I was floored by how good the shows were. Hit shows get good crowds so book early. Parking is easy, and the theater is close to the train station.

My wife and I visited Reeves-Reed Arboretum on a Saturday at the end of August and enjoyed a free guided tour of the estate’s beautiful gardens. If you’re a home gardener, then you’ll truly appreciate all the hard work that goes into maintaining and improving what Mother Nature started. This arboretum may be smaller than some, but it ranks right up there with the nicer ones we’ve seen. We want to thank all the volunteers that give their time to help preserve this delightful arboretum.

Been to the Blackthorn about 10 times. The bartenders are nice and chatty and the husband loves the beer and sports. They have overseas matches in the morning on weekends and get a nice crowd considering it could be 9am.
The large patio is great in good weather and has a fun, lively crowd. We have eaten many appetizers and the slider burgers were very good. They have Irish music on Sundays and it's fun to join in sometimes.

This is a hidden gem in New Jersey. They provide a very informative tour and than we sampled 6 different meades. Each one tasted very different. We liked them so much that we bought 5 bottles. My favorite was the Nice as Pie meade.

The staff is very friendly and always helpful. If they don't have what you are looking for they can get it quickly. Lots of charm and great to have a family owned bookstore instead of the usual antiseptic chains.
