What to do and see in Vancouver, Washington (WA): The Best Spas & Wellness

September 21, 2021 Kandra Bartel

Steeped in history, Vancouver is the oldest city in Washington. Once the largest western outpost of the British Hudson's Bay Company, where supplies and food were bartered in the 1800s, it was closed in 1860 as Americans took over commerce. The outpost was later recreated as the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. For more history, check out the Pearson Air Field, the oldest operating airfield in the West, where vintage aircraft are displayed at the Pearson Air Museum. If adventure is your bag, Vancouver is the perfect base for day trips to the Columbia River Gorge, the breathtakingly beautiful 70-mile river stretch that cuts through the Cascade Mountains, or Mount St. Helens, the site of the famous volcano, both of which offer a slew of outdoor activities. For calmer pastimes, cruise the picturesque river in the Columbia Gorge riverboat, or visit Beacon Rock, the world's second largest monolith, where a walking trail leads to spectacular panoramic views.

I'm a female Aroma, Massage Therapist, Celtic Reiki Master Practitioner! I have benefited from attending two different massage schools, allowing me to integrate the best of both styles. My clients consistently remark on my soft touch coupled with the ability to Heal! I love being a body-worker and it comes through in every massage I give! First-timers to massage are happily encouraged! I will address any questions or concerns you may have and provide a safe and relaxing space for you to explore the benefits of bodywork! I specialize in two different session styles: FLAWLESS Relaxation Massage~ A Swedish style blend, using long flowing hand movements to relax your nerves and stimulate your circulatory system. This style of bodywork is extraordinarily relaxing and lulls many of my clients into a restful sleep. I include Deep Tissue Massage, Reiki, or Passive Joint Movement to target your body's specific needs. Invigorating Massage~ This is a much more energizing style of massage and is wonderful if you must return to work after your session or if you are feeling tired and rundown. A blend of Petrosage Techniques are used to tonify (stimulate & strengthen) your body and its energy pathways, blood, lymph, and organs. I include many pressure points and an adaptation of Tuina that I've found particularly effective for my clients. I also may incorporate passive joint movement to further relieve stiffness and congestion in your arms and legs. I am generally available 10am - 5pm Booking in advance is recommended to reserve the day and time you prefer!

Urban Float

Reviewed By bakingbigfoot - Clear Lake, United States

My daughter has been bugging me to take her to a deprivation tank for awhile...so as soon as she found out there was one in Vancouver...well...she just had to go. Urban Floats feels more like a spa. As soon as you walk in you feel calm and relaxed. Staff was super friendly and helpful. This was our first time so it was only $45 an hour. After that...it's $90 an hour...or you can buy a membership. Many options to choose from. Since my daughter was under 18, I had to sign a waiver allowing her to float. Read all the formalities and watched a short video about floating and what to expect. I was actually wanting to jump in a pod by the time the video ended...but no...this was a late birthday gift for my daughter and I wanted to make her feel like a princess for a day. So yeah....my daughter went into a pod and I actually had to wait an hour for my daughter to finish since she was under age. No biggie since it's a very peaceful place. They also offer teas to drink while you wait. An hour goes by pretty fast. Once the hour was over, my daughter came out smiling. She really enjoyed it. The only complaint was that she got salt water in her eyes and couldn't find the spray bottle while in the pod. Ohh...and she said it kinda felt like a sauna in the pod. Not sure if that was good or bad. The overall experience was a good one and she does want to go back again. Maybe I'll try it out myself too.
