Xecue Vinicola

Alberta and Jose Luis in 1999 began developing artisanal wine to taste at home, in the year 2005 they decided to make their first wine for sale, they wished they had the essence of sharing their profession and their journey through life. Jose Luis is in charge of the field, the operative part of the winery and make sure the vines give excellent results and to ensure that the parameters have been proposed as standard, while Alberta is the Winemaker of the winery, she is responsible for the management of winemaking processes and administration, both demonstrate their fellowship and giving in each of their bottles. Initially Jose Luis and Alberta chose the best plots and designed wines that would enter the market in 2006, the same year they began a new adventure: the construction of the winery, which has been opened since the summer of 2012 to the public for tasting and sales. In Xecue Winery our products are made with care, each wine has its own personality, range of wines are balanced by subtle feminine and masculine character sets, these particular traits are expressed on the label.

Lenard was a wonderful host, really knowledgeable and personable guy. Wine tasting took place at the cellar because of a wedding that was happening at the same time, that was definitely an extra bonus. Nothing like wine tasting in the midst of wine barrels. Loved all 4 of the wines. Left with a bottle of merlot. Thanks Lenard!

As part of a trip to different vineyards, we visited Chateau Camou. It sits on top of a hill with nice views of the peculiar rock formations. The tasting and tour were guided by the owner who really loves his trade. Their Gran Tinto is one if the best in the region. During lunch, a member of the tour group received very bad news, and the people from the vineyard were truly concerned and eager to help.

You need to make a reservation to visit this adorable little winery, but once you do they really make you feel like one of the family. Owner James will even show you his worms that fertilize the vines, he's so proud of them! If you arrange for food, you won't be disappointed, it's fabulous. I can't wait to go back.

Vinicola Emeve

Reviewed By Challenger007 - San Diego, California

Vinicola Emeve has much to offer, lots of wine to choose from, a big shiny Tasting Room, and adjoining Patio, friendly Staff.
The architecture is quite impressive as you enter the property and in a similar open contemporary style to much of what is being newly built in the region. I really liked the set up (visually) and I thought the Patio was the ideal place to be because the Tasting Room itself was uncomfortably noisy.
Many of the design details were spot on including the spotless stemware. Definitely one of the best looking facilities I've seen. Some of the reds were better than average and the merchandising had good eye appeal.
The noise level however, would probably keep me from recommending it as a place to relax and enjoy some good Wine. The Patio did not have the extreme din of the Tasting Room but still..
Fingers crossed they can get the acoustics dialed in to something equivalent to how nicely everything else turned out.

Museo de la vid y el vino

Reviewed By TraderBo - San Diego, California

Valle de Guadalupe is the "Napa Valley of Mexico" and in many respects it is better: less exploited and less crowded, generally less costly, and so much more genuine. This museum is almost the only attraction apart from all the vineyards and wine tastings offered - unless you drive 20-30 minutes to visit Ensenada, which we have visited many times. Anyway, the museum is pretty average as a whole - it seems more ambitious based on the architecture as you arrive, but once inside it's rather average, In short, good for a 45 minute visit if it's your first time to Valle de Guadalupe.

My wife and I visited a Winery in Mexico's Guadalupe Valley last weekend, called Casta De Vino. This winery is a new winery that is owned by the same family that owns Casa Encinares. There is still a lot in the work that needs to be done at the winery, but they have a BEAUTIFUL wine cave and tasting room. They also have an outdoor restaurant overlooking the vineyards which is gorgeous.
Recently they added a Spa and Bed and Breakfast at a nearby location. Casta De Vino's wines are mostly red blends and are delicious !
Definitely go check it out when you're in Valle de Guadalupe in Mexico !

During our Carnival Cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada, we decided to try the Ensenada Winery Excursion. This was a great tour because we love learning about the local wineries and drinking their wine. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of "inside" info with the group. She was very well spoken and was able to answer all the questions posed by us. We first walked through the fermentation room and then off to the aging room (very large building with oak wine casks). After the tour (about 20 minutes) we went into the gift shop and on to the wine tasting room. They were able to easily accommodate our group of 20+ guests and the wine was quite good. We tried a sparkling wine (champagne) first, because there was a birthday in the group (hint: when asked, say YES). Then on to the other whites and reds. All - in - all we tasted about 5 or 6 wines with a side of bread, olive oil, and cheese. The tour duration was great, not too long, and very interesting. On the way out they gave each member of the group a complimentary bottle of wine.
