Escursione tutt’intorno a Sassopiatto e Sassolungo

We did this hike with 2 teenage boys (10 and 14) and it is exceptionally beautiful! it is quite easy if you are a moderately fit hiker (even if you are not so fit actually). Because we did this with the boys we hiked from Sella pass to Refugio Sasso Piatto, left out stuff, climbed Sasso Piato, stayed overnight and hiked the rest of the way the second day. I will say if you are not very fit, skip the mountain climb, it is not an easy hike. The tour around the sasso piato and lungo is beautiful and quite easy though.

Rifugio Firenze - Regensburgerhutte

Built in 1888 as one of the first mountain huts in Val Gardena. It's located on the sunny side in the middle of the Nature Park Puez-Odle with a stunning view on the Sassolungo and on the Odle mountains. Perfect starting point for different walkings and hikings. The kitchen offers fresh local dishes and there is the chance to sleep in rooms or dormitories. Open in summer from 1st June until mid of October.

My husband and I had a late lunch here after hiking Seceda before we took Col Raiser down to St Cristina. Refugio Firenze was a most welcome respite to us. We both had the eggs and speck on roasted potatoes which were delicious. Hiking companions had kaisersharren. We had never heard of it before...but it looked delicious and they said it was. Service was good and we really enjoyed our late lunch here.
