What to do and see in Vail, Colorado (CO): The Best Things to do Adventurous

September 23, 2021 Jacquiline Darosa

North America's biggest and most popular ski resort, Vail is an alpine village in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Long a favorite of serious skiers and jet setting celebrities, Vail now also draws a younger, hipper snowboarding crowd. Skiing is king at Vail Mountain and the Blue Sky Basin, but the area's vast splendor is perfect for hiking, biking, snowmobiling or scenery-gazing at any time of the year.

Booth Falls Trail

Six-mile hiking trail climbs 3,000 feet in elevation as it passes varied scenery including lakes, waterfalls and aspen forests.

It was my second trail experience in my like, and I liked it very much. The view is amazing right from the beginning, even though is summer it was not too crowded. All hikers wore masks and were very respectful trying to do social distancing where the trail was narrow. You should take water, sunscreen and if you are a beginner hiker like me, be ready to stop and catch your breath more than once or twice. The road is very steep near the waterfall, but it is worth it. Enjoy the hiking!

Vail Stables

"Goat Yoga Classes, Horseback Rides, and a Saloon with the Happiest Hour in town. The Goats run wild and the kids play in the sand. Located one mile from downtown Vail, CO. The views of Vail Mountain from our location are spectacular! Humans enjoy an exclusive opportunity to ride in the peaceful forest on beginner friendly to advanced gentle horses, that like to trot, if you so desire. Goat Yoga classes are held most days. The saloon is open weird hours with cold brew, wine and spirits. Enjoy a free game of corn hole or washers or free redneck bowling."

My husband and I booked the 2 hour Dark Timber Trail, it was AMAZING and Sara our guide was THE BEST! My husband and I had two very spirited horses named Chester and Bart which only made our ride that much more entertaining! I did read reviews before I booked it and the negative ones could not be more far off from the experience we had! I highly recommend Vail Stables and the 2 hour Dark Timber trail, some of the most beautiful views I have ever seen! We stayed after for Wine with goats, which was super fun. The goats are so cute and a lot of fun! It was worth every penny and we will definitely do it again the next time we are in Vail.. Whatever you do DO NOT listen to the people who left bad reviews they are probably just complainers. Thank you Vail Stables and Sara for a wonderful experience.

We had a great experience snow tubing! The favorite activity of our vacation for the entire family. The family loved that we booked at 4:30 pm because it allowed everyone to watch the sunset over the mountains while tubing. Really cool experience. Concerning buying 3 runs or unlimited runs: -both options are WAYYYYY over priced, but you can save yourself some $$$ doing the 3 run option. Our family bought the unlimited option and only went down the hill 5 times total. It just gets tiring and cold at the altitude. I'm convinced that Vail is pricing snow tubing so high to cut down on demand and create a better experience for participants. It was really nice not waiting in lines, but as I said, you'll pay a premium price for a great experience.
