Un Siecle de Roulottes

This is a special place, created by a very special human being. Please treat it with the respect it deserves. Although it was out of season (the museum opens by prior arrangement in summer) Pierre responded to my email and we were able to arrange a visit by phone. You will need to be able to speak some French to be able to benefit from Pierre's knowledge.
My husband I learnt an enormous amount about the caravans of the nomadic and circus people and enjoyee seeing inside them. Pierre is incredibly generous with his time, expertise and stories. There is no fee for the visit. The least we can do is to learn as much as we can about the various nomadic peoples and their culture and heritage. We wish Pierre and Celine all the best with this ongoing project and very much hope to be able to return for a musical event one day. Maybe with some flamenco!

It is a wonderful private collection of all things mechanical, Railway diesels, cars , trucks, farm equipment , cinema, cameras, poste office, garage, Motorbikes, cycles, radios, horse drawn carriages , in fact you name it , it is there. Great little cafe and 300 seat assembly room for groups. it even has a working traction engine and threshing machine. Fabulous

The Eure is the actual source of the water the Romans built the Pont du Gard aqueduct in order to bring water to Nimes, France! It brought 40% of the water volume that today goes to San Francisco, 20 centuries ago! This is at the end of the valley. It's a beautiful valley that you should visit, a wonderful walk on a weekend.

Medieval Garden

Médiéval Garden History laden place, botanical garden, panoramic view from King's tower

Reviewed By ChristineMargaret - Geneva, Switzerland

Possibly the loveliest little historic garden I've ever seen. It is managed and cared for by three women who really know their horticulture. It is nestled within the ancient walls of an old tower and they use the vertical walls ingeniously. The growing beds are very well organized, with well placed plant labels and a guidebook on hand. After your tour you can enjoy a glass of chilled herb tea in the very pretty courtyard. My one suggestion would be not to pay the extra to ascend the tower unless you are very energetic and have young knees. I didn't even attempt it. They do warn you it's 100 steps, but they are very narrow with at least 10-12 inch risers. I was happy to sit in the courtyard and enjoy the garden.

Parc Aquatique La Bouscarasse

Reviewed By dannywrc - Durham, United Kingdom

We were a bit disappointed by this water park. admission was 36 euros for 2 adults and a child but being new to France and not knowing you have to wear speedos the shop got another 20 euros from us for a couple of pairs. so far we'd spent 56 euros before getting wet.
The park is made up of a large pool split by a castle like wall separating the deep from the shallow... a couple of water Fountains with very shallow pools for the little ones, a shallow stream feature and a hoop ride round a stream feature. No water slides.
There is plenty of Seating for picnics which i would suggest as the cafe took a very long time to serve around 10 people. We got salad for 3.5 euros, pizza for 7 euros and fries for 2.5 euros.
The park gets very busy and the life guards are pretty full on with rule enforcement.
Overall we enjoyed the day but expected more. The kids had a good time too but got a little bored with the lack of things to do.

Located very conveniently in the center of Uzes where I was a frequent visitor! The staff I met with were very knowledgeable and went out of their way to assist and answer my questions...in English! Even though my rental car had GPS, the info and maps they gave me were very helpful. The office was spacious and featured hundreds of brochures and also a small boutique. (Don't miss the art gallery next door!)

We enjoyed our brief visit to the brewery. The welcome was very pleasant and we were given lots of free samples to try. We liked the Ambrèe best.
We didn't take the tour but enjoyed a couple of glasses of beer outside on the very pleasant decking area.
Only drawback for us was that, although some local bars stocked the bottle beers non were selling drafts and the brewery itself is a good 30 minutes walk from town, we wouldnt drive obviously!

Extensive and impressive for such a small town. Not ancient treasures, but interesting nonetheless. And a good jumping off place for visiting the many local potters. Nominal fee of three euros.

Le Duche

Reviewed By southernbelle007 - Lafayeffe, La

We decided to buy tickets and visit the Le Duche. The tour is pretty straight forward, all in french with a handout english guide.
You are taken through some rooms in the chateau, which are furnished with antiques and heirloom pieces. This is not a long guided tour. The most appealing part for us was the self guided tour of the tower, allowing for a wonderful view of Uzes. If you decide to go, check the hours that the tours are available ahead of time to avoid a wait. I think our time could have been better spent elsewhere.
