Itchan Kala

The ancient town has many undamaged monuments such as the Djuma Mosque.

Itchan Kala is the name given to the area inside the Khiva fort walls. We paid 150000 som for the VIP ticket which allows for 2 days of entry. There are different tickets and the VIP ticket cost the most which allows you go climb the minaret and the watchtower. The tickets are good for entry into museums and palaces and mosques. Some of the museums are not really worthwhile. This entire area is free of cars. There are souvenir stalls set up along the side of the pedestrian road. We spent 2 nights in Khiva and really enjoyed it at a relaxed pace. You can also walk along the wall. There is a steep ramp at the North Gate Entrance.

Kara-Tepa

This is a very interesting site, where you can explore for hours, but make sure to wear good solid walking shoes, and comfortable clothing, as the terrain is only for the sure footed and you will get dusty and dirty. Well worth it though.

Afrasiab

The site of an ancient settlement that existed more than two thousand years ago.

Very nicely done small musuem depicting 7th century civilisation in Samarkand. Amazing restoration of wall paintings showing early ambassador visits to city, and relationships with nearby and far east representatives

Saint Daniel's Tomb

A very nice small site to visit. The tomb and its length was cool. Nice area, the steps at the back bring you up to a cemetery and spring water source(another Source before the ticket office beside the blue dome).
