Die Garten Tulln is a collection of Gardens over a reasonably sized site in the Wachau town of Tulln. It is extremely well sign-posted and has ample car parking. The parking closest to the Gardens had an X next to it when this reviewer arrived but whatever that means it does not mean the parking is unavailable.
The Gardens themselves are nice. This is not the world's greatest Gardens collection but it is perfectly reasonable. The Gardens closest to the entry are somewhat austere and that can give a wrong impression as there are quite a few lovely plots further back. There are several places to sit and relax, in particular around water features. Unfortunately there is not enough shade really and so the Gardens experience can be quite hot.
The noticeable feature missing from the Gardens is colour. There are very few colourful entries with most of them being more artistic than entertaining. There is a surprising lack of flowers, and the most common flowers shown are not especially vibrant.
Garten Tulln also comes with an excellent little adventure play area for kids as well as a play area built into a part of the forest. Kids really seem to enjoy the challenges presented.
The food options are a bit limited. There is a bbq style grill area which seems popular along with quite a large restaurant. The restaurant is not the most expansive but those who appreciate Austrian cuisine will appreciate it.
What makes the restaurant nice is that it looks out onto a pond. The pond supposedly produces hourly Fountain choreography set to music. This reviewer managed to catch one display but due to an event advertising tourism to Prussia, it certainly was not hourly. The Prussian event did have a brass brand which was interesting.
The Gardens are quite peaceful and on a hot summer sunday were not especially busy. The peace is occasionally broken by unnecessary tannoy announcements broadcast throughout the grounds.
The forest area is a bit limited and there is not much to see. It is possible to hire a small boat like a rowing boat or a pedalo though the silty water does not inspire desire for contact.
The viewing structure is quite impressive. The view down onto the tops of the trees is ok, the view of the grounds show them off in full glory. The view to the neighbouring factory is less amazing.
At €11 for an adult, the attraction is overpriced. It is nice but it is not in the same category of great that the grounds at Melk or Schloss Hof are for instance.

Donaulande

Tulln is a beautiful place!
This pretty Fountain is set on the south bank of the Danube River in Tulln depicts one of the stories from the Song of the Nibelungs - a marriage proposal of the king Attila the Hun and the princess Kremhild (Gudrun). The statues look amazing!
Highly recommended to visit during warmer months, there's plenty of florals and faunas and walking to do if you are keen.

Nibelungendenkmal

Reviewed By Monique-Devienne - Vienna, Austria

This super and interesting little museum was CLOSED when we visited in December. They missed a golden opportunity for a cruise boat load of people. We were disappointed not to find it open!Due to the minimal interest of the visitors in the winter season the roman museum is closed from November to March. Nevertheless, visitor groups are very welcome outside the opening hours upon reservation! Unfortunately we were not informed about the cruise boat.

Egon Schiele Museum

Reviewed By HSLB1 - Amsterdam
