Up in the old town area ,this old convent is well worth taking a look around ,historical artefacts and some great architechtual woodwork can still be seen, also a small museum with history of the Revolution are situated around the inner courtyard, the best place to head to is up the stairs to the balcony, some nice views of Trinidad, even better take the very tight/small winding staircase up two more floors and then up on to the roof and you get a 360' degree vista of Trinidad and the outskirts up to the countryside, and the coast / sea. great photographic opertunities from up here and a good insight into local Cuban life .Only 2cuc to get in.

Parque el Cubano

Reviewed By Toadsfeet - Tisbury, United Kingdom

Spent the morning here as part of our tour. We had the use of a knowlegeable local guide, who pointed out the local flora and fauna. Over a rope bridge, following a river, sometimes the path is smooth and flat, other times climbing up some gentle rocky hills, around 4-5 kilometres each way. Stopped in an isolated farmers hut midway for a cup of brew. The destination is a waterfall, rockpool and the chance to do a spot of swimming before heading back. Very enjoyable easy paced ramble through some delightful countryside. On return to the start, we had a buffet style lunch, with some very sweet coffee.

Ruinas de Ingenio San Isidro de los Destiladeros

We stopped by the museo de San Isidro for an afternoon and lucked into having Reinier assigned as our guide. His English (and French) is impeccable-which is fortunate as our español is basic at best. Reinier is informative, engaging and passionate about the subject matter and made the history tour much more interesting and real for us. This is a museum not to be missed if you're visiting Trinidad and Sancti Spiritus province.

Cayo Iguana

Reviewed By gracetommo - Manchester, United Kingdom

We took a day trip from Trinidad and it was one of the highlights of the holiday. There are iguanas everywhere, so plenty of photo opportunities, along with cute little tree rats who were particularly friendly, funnily enough, during lunch! The beach is breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful. If you’ve got a day to spare, you should definitely head here.

Ancon Beach

Reviewed By mefistome - Toronto, Canada

Beautiful Ancon beach! Calm warm waters, three klms of white sand to walk enjoying the southing breeze, the murmur of the sea and the scorching sun. Don’t mis the white crayfish digging caves in the sand. Crowded on Sundays with the locals having BBQ, not so much on weekdays. Take a couple sandwiches, a big bottle of juice or water, your favorite book and head for the beach. The restaurants at the hotels are for customers only – people staying all inclusive - and the kiosks where food is sold can be very expensive. If you are staying in Trinidad, the beach it’s only 15 klms away, you can take the Tourist Double deck Bus downtown Trinidad, make sure to keep your ticket for the return trip, and it will take you there in about 45 minutes. The timetables are posted on the windshield of the bus, most tourists take a photo with their cellphone to remember the times. The first bus leaves Trinidad for the beach at 9am; the last one returning to the city leaves the beach at 6pm, not recommended it can be very noisy and crowded. You may also take a “collective Taxi,” up to four people. If you are taken by the tranquility, the calming sound of the waves, and the tranquility that surrounds you and want to see the sunset be sure to arrange for a taxi to pick you up; after 6pm. there’s no bus service to Trinidad. There’s a Coral Reef nearby and boats to take you there diving or snorkeling; they are available at the kiosk beside the Coco Bar; pedal boats can also be rented with guides aboard. The blue seats on the sand are for Hotel guests only however you may rent them or walk up to the far side of the beach and use the Palm-Huts that are free. Enjoy a sunset at the beach it could be unforgettable.
