Passo del Giovo

Reviewed By pksolecki - San Diego, United States

We took the pass after spending the night in Merano (a terrific city on its own and well worth a visit), rather than back-tracking to Bergamo and then heading north through the Brenner Pass. This route adds perhaps 1-2 hours to the drive, but the views are absolutely spectacular. The pass is often closed in winter, of course - we drove it with no issues on Oct 17th - so be sure to check on the status. The road is in good shape, two lanes up and down, with turn-outs. The southern Italian side is much more scenic than the northern side, especially since on the northern side you are often in the trees. There is a cafe at the top of the pass.

Gardena Pass

Even on an overcast day in October, it was just breathtaking scenery. Leaves changing colors. Magestic peaks. HIke, bike, stroll, ski. Whatever - enjoy.

Passo Fedaia

The Fedaia pass is less known and also less frequented so it is always a nice ride, especially if you are on a motorcycle. Try to go early July, before the big boom of holidays starts.

Passo Stalle

Reviewed By JMGeneva - Geneva, Switzerland

One of the nicest pass we have done. Really superb (although quite different) on both sides, by car or by foot (we did both!). Watch for the time slots for going up from each side( 15 minutes per hour) or you may end up waiting... up to 45 minutes!
