Vila Vella (Old Town)

This National Monument is the only surviving walled city on the Catalan coast.

Reviewed By TAIN2013 - Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

Surrounded by the city walls, the old town leads down from the Castle and takes you back in time with its narrow, winding cobbled streets and stone houses. The walls are interspersed with towers and gates and are very well preserved. The streets offer great views great views over the city and the beach from several points.
Built on a hillside, the town requires a lot of climbing. So wear appropriate footwear.

Castillo de Tossa de Mar

The castle is located on a hill overlooking the Platja Gran and offers commanding views over the town, beach and the sea. The actual defensive structures are now in ruins and only the remains of a few buildings, castle walls and towers are still intact. However, the old town is still inhabited. It takes a bit of climbing to get to the top and around halfway there is a beautiful statue of Ava Gardner.

I come here for several years, because sister lives in Tossa and this is my favorite beach in Tossa are three that I think is most beautiful. During the season a lot of people everywhere but when you go to the end or beginning of the season there is comfortable and the water is beautifully clean although a bit cold and the sand is coarse but comfortable on your feet.

Really peaceful and tranquil place to spend sometime away from the world and spend time with your thoughts. The church is in darkness expect for the alter until you realise you can illuminate the beautiful ceiling by inserting a euro near the entrance there is also a small side room where you can add to the many lighted candles which is lovely

Chapel of Mare de Deu del Socors

Quaint chapel, immaculately kept. Worth sticking your head in for a quick look round. It is very small. Situated in the back streets of the old town, behind the beach. There always seemed to be older women sitting outside, a focal point perhaps. The area itself can get very busy with a lot of pedestrians milling about.

This is a small cove surrounded by cliffs and pines and located just 5 kilometres from the centre of Tossa de Mar and 100 meters from Cala Futadera. Very quiet beach and after a swim i recommend few San Miguel beers at the beach bar :)

Platja Gran

The beautiful beach is next to a castle which gives it a unique character and is very clean. When I visited in December, it was almost empty and there were no beach bars or water-sports. Probably more interesting in summertime.

Es Codolar

Reviewed By djthomas - Duffield, United Kingdom

Busy at weekends and during main holiday season. Much less busy other times. One small cafe, friendly and they have basic facilities (ask them for the key at bar + leave a few cents). Handy if staying in Vila Vella and want to avoid busy main beach
