This temple is an absolute beauty of architectural marvel of south india. The gopurams or the entry gates on all four sides of the temple are majestic. The entire premises is full of positive energy and serene calmness. One should surely visit such a place as it is older than even our great grand father's and the vibrations of this temple are unique. The temple is in the centre of TIRUVANNAMALAI city and is the main landmark for travel and directions in the city.

GIRIVALAM is revolving around a holy hill of Annamalai on full moon day where Maharshi Ramana and other great saints had attained spiritual supremacy. It is around 14kilometers and the devotee has to go bare foot chanting "Om Namah Shivaya" while coming around the hill. Though it was traditional footway initially but now it has been upgraded with proper roads for ease of vehicle moment rather than humans keeping in mind the commercialisation aspects.Girivalam confers the benefit of yaga. The holy hill has Asta Lingas in all eight directions. The Girivalam starts with Indralingam followed by Agnilingam,Yamalingam,Niruthilingam,Varunalingam,Vayulingam,Kuberalingam and Esanyalingam. Every Lingam has its own significance. Situated by the side of Arunachala hill, this is the place where Ramana Maharshi meditated for a long period. The Ashram also gives a brilliant view of the Thiruvannamalai town and the temple.
