What to do and see in Theater District, New York (NY): The Best Points of Interest & Landmarks

April 6, 2022 Ying Subia

Conquering New York in one visit is impossible. Instead, hit the must-sees – the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art – and then explore off the beaten path with visits to The Cloisters or one of the city’s libraries. Indulge in the bohemian shops of the West Village or the fine dining of the Upper West Side. The bustling marketplace inside of Grand Central Station gives you a literal taste of the best the city has to offer.

Amazing place to visit and so different from everything I am used to, great to see in the day as well as at night, with lots of street performers to make the experience even more enjoyable!

The NYC Times Square Hilton is a beautiful, clean and very modern facility with great access to all of the principal activities of NYC, including Broadway, Lincoln Center and the poignant sights of the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. The price was great and every part of our visit was made more enjoyable by this comfortanle facility in the heart of everything that's happening in NYC.

Good Morning America Studios

We watch GMA most days. We requested tickets about a month or so before our visit to NYC and got general admission tickets within an hour or so. We hoped to be upgraded to priority but were not. We arrived at the studio a little before 6 am on a very cold rainy day. It was actually easy to see where to line up and, we felt, very organized. Because there was virtually no one in the priority line we (and everyone near us) was upgraded to priority and got in fairly fast. Everyone we had contact with was very pleasant! It was so much fun to see behind the scenes! The warm-up guy worked very hard and really involved the audience. He was quite funny. Seeing the anchors was fun, seeing how it all works was both educational and enjoyable. We got good looks at all the anchors who were there that day. It was a high point of our visit to NYC. I highly recommend the experience as long as you accept some details, such as requesting tickets as soon as the date you want becomes available, the need to get there early, and the rules once you get in - such as using the bathroom before you get seated, not being able to leave and then renter and certain restrictions on using your cell phones. If you relax and embrace the experience you’ll have a great time!

This is a historic theater that's small and intimate for a show. Comfortable seats (more leg room that the typical Broadway theater).

I really wanted to see the Love sculpture but it was gone! I like things like this within cities so we walked a few blocks out of our way for a picture.

Father Duffy statue

Reviewed By 569gregs - Dallas, United States

It may appear as one of the most incongruous statues in The Big Apple, but this statue of the most decorated military chaplain in US history is superb. Right there in Times Square where discount Broadway tickets are now sold, you'll find this superbly crafted bronze of a Catholic priest who served in both the Spanish-American War and World War I. Given numerous medals for valor and service by the US and France, Father Duffy reminds everyone having a good time that there is a price for freedom which we all need to pay from time to time!
